Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

Please click here, to see the larger, sharper Beta version.

This is Rufford Old Hall, a Tudor mansion house built in 1530 for Sir Robert Hesketh.

The original, timber framed building, which I have shown in my photograph, contains the original great hall and is a wonderful example of its period.

As most old buildings, it has been updated and added to, and there is now a huge brick-built wing in the Jacobean style, which was added in 1661, at right angles to the Great Hall, and a third wing was added in the 1820s.

I will show the brick built extension as a workshop. You would hardly believe that they belonged to the same building but, I suppose, like us today, people wanted to modernise and follow new styles.

When we were there, it was Valentine's Day so some people were in period costume. I will show a little princess as my next post.

I wish you a lovely day, from a sunny, frosty Lancashire, Bev :-)
