Photographer's Note
Another photograph from our lovely little TE meeting ten days ago in the English Lake District, this time looking southward from the north of the lake called Buttermere with the steep slopes of Fleetwith Pike at 648 metres (2126 feet) seen in the distance on the right.
Buttermere is a lovely little village and this lake nearby is also called Buttermere. It is believed that there are two possible origins of the name Buttermere. Firstly, it is possibly derived from the old English words butere - dairy pasture - and mere - a lake. The second explanation is that large numbers of Vikings settled in this area in the 9th and 10th Centuries and, in the 11th Century, this area was part of the holdings of a Norse chieftain named "Buthar", hence Buthar's lake or Buthar's mere.
Whatever the derivation of the name, both the village and the lake are beautiful and these two young photographers were keenly trying to find the best viewpoints for some interesting shots.
ISO 200, 1/400 sec at f/8, focal length 70mm.

Hello John
these 2 "young" men do not know you've found the perfect POV: a small river going to the lake, the hilly background and some trees to fill the left part!
Cheers

Hello John,
What a nice photo of two hard working photographers trying hard to find the best angle, while you were probably sitting in a comfortable chair having the best, elevated view of all. It's a wonderful view of the rather steep hills across the water, the stream running among the brown rocks into the lake, and with the fence and small trees adding details to the foreground.
I saw this photo a while ago, just after you had posted it, and there was no note. Do you deliberately add the note separately to avoid losing it, or do you still have this problem that it disappears?
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello John,
A splendid perspective across the lake. Very pleasant lights and colours and excellent sharpness. Your fellow photographers help enliven the scene and are nicely juxtaposed one against the other. I like the intricate patterns offered by the upper parts of the three foreground trees.

Hello John,
So this is where you were when we lost you!
This is the sort of picture I love!
There is lots of pertinent f/g information, in the way of rocks, plants and a guiding diagonal stream; then the further two thirds of the scene is a wonderful, pictorial revelation of the setting, with both water and mountains.
Who could not be thrilled to visit this spot!
A fine exposure, clear and colourful!
You were fortunate to have a couple of figures there to animate and add scale to your fine photograph.
Have a great day,
Bev :-)

Hello John,
it looks like a very lovely place with great views and interesting details that could attract any hiker and/or photographer's attention. I like that the two photographers in your picture are exploring different directions and their clothes are in such harmony with the tones of the landscape. You did a great work on the illumination of a comprehensive scene with diverse and contrasting lighting demands. I like very much the depth, the colours and the subtle shade in the foreground. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
Ourania

Hello John,
Not only the two photographers one with tripod against the water line, but also your picture is of high quality.
You choose a wonderful angle with the river in foreground.
A very nice picture with the river and the mountain in background.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John.

Hello John, a lovely view across Buttermere, and the presence of your two friends, obviously looking for a prime spot from which to get some good shots, adds to the total composition.
The depth of field is wonderful.

Hi John,
this is a beautiful spot, so very photogenic. I remember when we arrived the light was brilliant but then sadly the clouds started to appear and by the time I came to the lake it was already very dark.
So this is where you headed at the very beginning?
We got there later -in the search for you -me and Bev.
Nice composition here, the two accidental photographers add some life and interest.
The mountains across the lake look so attractive with great level of detail.
Excellent work,
M

Hello John,
Nice memories from this recent meeting in Cumbria. Nice inclusion of these two unknown not young photographers :). Marvelous landscape. You were lucky with the weather this time.

Ciao John
con un paesaggio come questo è obbligatorio fermarsi per fare delle foto, soprattutto se si è "armati" come il signore della foto.
Bel taglio verticale, si riescono a vedere le due rive del lago e le montagne che lo circondano.
Saluti

Hello John
Thanks for the anonymity; and the delusional epithet! Your viewpoint, as Claude pointed out, is just right, including the fence running into the water, and in fact the addition of people (I use the term loosely) definitely adds to the beautiful scene. Light could have been kinder, but that's out of our control...
Kind regards
Will

Hello John
Great picture of these two photo-hunters. One has found a beautiful prey, the other is looking around the find the right scene to shoot with his camera. You used the attractive human activity to introduce us to this splendid landscape (just like I used the mother and sun to introduce an work of art).
It gives an extra attractive dimension to the seen.
Fascinating presentation.

Ciao dear Giovanni
What an idyllic place and it seems to be populated with some very dedicated photographers. The things we do for a photo eh? Beautiful colours and lovely dappled light. This part of England is truly beautiful, thank you so much for sharing it with us. And some random photographers who managed to wander into your shot.
Cheers, un abbraccio

Hello John
As Claude suggests - you had the best viewpoint here. My images were not worth anything at all from this little excursion - but that's the fun of a TE meet - photography lurks in the background despite appearances and it's really about the pint and the packet of crisps that were enjoyed post photo shoot! I have to say Will is somewhat Yeti like in his demeanour here!
Hope you are well - take care
Mike
