Photographer's Note
You certainly remember my photos from the Bristol Cathedral which hosted the art installation, model of the Moon. It was called the Museum of the Moon. Indeed, I checked that the same exhibition visited another location near me, the Durham Cathedral, and I really wanted to see the Moon inside this magnificent interior. To be honest, that visit was rather a disappointment for me. At first, even though the entrance to the cathedral is supposedly free, the newly arranged entrance forces you to pass through the ticket counters where you are explicitly and loudly asked whether you can afford a donation of at least 5£. It is not much, but somehow the voluntary aspect of the donation is lost by shaming in public those who would say “no I cannot afford the 5£”. Well, I quickly paid the voluntary donation and went to see my friends who waited for me inside already. We took out our tripods and… we were approached by the hosts who told us that the use of the tripods is prohibited. My natural instinct is always: WHY? But instead of losing time for discussion with narrow minded people I told my friend that I just regret that I paid the donation… Obviously I tried to take long exposure photos supporting the camera against some chairs etc but the available composition opportunities were limited, of course. I also noticed that the model of the Moon is slightly moving, making all long exposure photos not sharp. I had to use a rather short exposure time, less than a second, and the effect of star shaped lights was not possible anymore. Anyway, I did want to share with you at least one shot from the Durham Cathedral with the Moon inside.
There is an expression in English language: “I love you to the moon and back”. As you can guess it means “I love you very much”. There are a couple of songs and children’s books bearing this title.

PS
I uploaded this photo in the evening hours, and it feels a bit dark to me now. I prepared it in the morning in a bright light and it felt well balanced then.

Hi Mariusz,it needs to read the notes to understand the difficulties you have had to photograph in here, because looking at the photo I just have to clap and put it in my favorites. What a sight, £ 5 donated very spontaneously ... ahaha ... but really well spent. I do not understand why the use of the tripod was forbidden, it often happened to me that I could not use the flash, but such a thing is truly unique. However 10 and praise for the photo of the day on TE, a real show !!! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Mariusz,
Now that you've also seen the art installation from this exhibit in a second location, I hope you were able to see the dark side of the moon as well :)
I don't think the photo is too dark. I find it perfect.
Good strong contrast between the warm brown tones of Durham Cathedral and the grey moon.
Nicely symmetrical with a view of the stained glass window under the moon.
I see the disinfectant spray can is ready for use.
Best regards, Paul

Czesc Mariusz
Ciekawa prezentacja. Kiedys szukalem jakie kolejne lokalizacje bedzie miala ta wystawa ale omija miejsca gdzie moglbym ewentualnie byc.
pozdrawiam
Piotr

Hello Mariusz,
Wow, it looks just as though the real moon has descended from the skies, it looks so clear and detailed. The warm colours of the church interior are wonderful as well and I also like that window in the background.

Hello dear friend and have a nice day
original version
I like this impressive presentation
in vivid colours
but you captured this one perfectly
because the light inside the
cathedral is difficult enough
thanks for the sharing

Hello Mariusz,
This moon with its gray color superbly contrast the hall in the cathedral, yet from POV shown - it matchs the arches above in perfect stymmetry.
Have a nice new week,
Ike

Hello Mariusz,
I'm with you in condemnation of such a hard sell 'voluntary' donation! More people, donating less, would have the same input!
I also cannot imagine why tripods are banned!
Don't worry about the photograph seeming dark!, the deep, rich reddy/browns act as a fine contrast with the bright sphere of the moon.
I know, as a perfectionist, you would have liked to use a tripod but this still has acceptable sharpness, as handheld.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Marousz
The cathedral in Trondheim Norway wanted a €10 entry fee, after I had converted the price in Norwegian krona. I refused to pay that much when most other churches are free, so just took some exterior shots. The moon looks perfectly sharp and the motion blurred people in the bg enhance the effect. Tfs!

Hello Mariusz,
Yes, I remember the picture with the moon.
I like church interiors, maybe a little bit few light but a very good image.
Composition and presentation are pleasant to look at.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,

mariusz
at least you hadn't to rob the images of this interior as I did, taking images by chance to get some memory of this interior.
anyway you got a marvelous image with the surreal touch of moon against the golden gothic.
take care

Hello Mariusz,
Despite the difficulties you mentioned in your note, I think you came away with an amazing photo. The contrast between the warm colors of the cathedral interior, and the bright, grey color of the moon, is beautiful. Seeing the moon in this setting is magical. Take care!

Hello Mariusz, a lovely composition and presentation of the moon inside Durham Cathedral. I would have loved to see this for real.
The warm brown tones make an excellent background for the grey/white moon.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Mariusz,
A lot of TE members mentioned about seeing a similar Moon ... you uploaded :-)
Here it is ! Wow ... This one is stunning.
The bright 'Full Moon' with the golden glow b/g , lit up the whole Cathedral like Galaxy on Fire ... Amazing.
I just love this exhibition. Last year, I saw that by chance. Then came the lockdown. I thought I would never see it again this year. Fortunately, when the lockdown lifted ... it has extended for few more days. Of course, I went for the second time. I'm so pleased to see the Moon again ... like you said, 'I love to the moon and back' :-)
Btw, thanks for adding my moon photo to the theme you've created. Appreciated. Good idea !
Next time, I'll show more photos of the Moon.
Definitely, not as good as yours :-)
I'm also glad to see your photos. The other side of the world.
Cheers!
Loong
