Big Ben Unwrapped

This is of course Big Ben in London, or officially Elizabeth Tower, the clock tower of the Houses of Parliament. Renovation works have been in progress for several years now, during which the tower was completely wrapped in scaffolding for quite a while, but they are almost finished now and the tower can be admired in all its splendour again. The two lampposts in the foreground are still wrapped up though, they are a gift in celebration of Queen Elizabeth抯 platinum jubilee and will be unveiled later this year.

I was standing in front of Westminster Hall, the oldest part of the Houses of Parliament, when I took this photo, just before we would go in and get a guided tour through the building (during which it was not allowed to take any pictures unfortunately).
