Photographer's Note
A renovated Renault Dauphine at a classic car exhibition. This time IT IS a Renault, Claude!
_______________________________________
In 1956, Renault unveiled a four-door sedan originally called the Corvette. That name presented an obvious conflict with another car being introduced in that same year. A new name was decided upon: Dauphine.
The Dauphine was, like it's predecessor the 4CV, a unibody constructed vehicle. The Dauphine however, was a four door sedan with conventionally opening doors, unlike the "suicide" doors of the 4CV. The wheelbase of the Dauphine was six inches longer than the 4CV, and the overall length of the car was 12 inches longer. The drivetrain arrangement was nearly identical to that of the 4CV (rear engine, water cooled, in-line four), but the engine capacity was raised from 760cc to 845cc, and the horsepower was increased from 19hp to 32hp. 0-60mph time was calculated by Road and Track magazine to be an amazing 32 seconds!
Over the years that the Dauphine was produced (1956-1968), a few "high performance" options were available. For the 1957 model year Amedee Gordini engineered a version of the Dauphine with certain engine modifications that increased the horsepower about 20%, from 32hp to 38hp. In 1961 the Gordini Dauphine's horsepower was upped again, this time to 40hp. The Gordini Dauphine had special trim and a special green & black steering wheel to distinguish it from the standard Dauphine.

Old cars really are great subjects.
I like the round shapes and the combination of red color and metal. Great angle and framing. And a great car, BTW...

Nice detail of this old car, Yitzhak. Again you picked sufficient detail to be able to tell what it is, at the same time arriving at an original composition that emphasizes the nice shapes. Is that the photographer being reflected right of the light? ;-)

I like the fact that two great detail shots were posted this morning "shoulder by shoulder"..:-) Here I like the soft red, as you have succeeded to present the texture and shades of colour in a very artful way! Excellent!

I like thefree-0spirited composition of this shot. I also like the way the reflection blend with the actual color of the car. Very original shot of an otherwise common sight.

This make me remember of a picture of my mother; she's about 20 years old and she's sitting on the hood of her very first car a Dauphine Gordini. The car was black but had one huge white circle with a number in it (don't remember which number) on each front doors. My mother was an excellent driver, she even participated to some amateur rallye racing. The Dauphine was present from her father (my grand-father) for her 20's birthday. She kept the car for a very long time, spending few weekends working on the engine (she was a good mechanic too),I remember she was still driving the car when I was 15 years old.
So your picture is not only well done but bring back a lot of memories to me.
Thanks.

I like The picture, The framing is really interesting, I have a little bit problem with the cut in the bottom of the picture, but as looking on the picture itself - I really like it!

An unusual viewpoint, interesting shapes and the strange reflection give this real impact. A good shot, Yitzak. You are inspiring me to upload some vintage car shots I took in the summer.

Love the graphical composition Yitzhak, very effective. A light and a frame being seperated by a curved line, simple but elegant. I am getting more and more fascinated by that reflection. I just read your comment To Norbert that it was a trunk of a tree, but the seeming flying object above it... Intrigueing play with reflections :-)

Very nice composition with an excelent reflexion. The tight cropping works perfectly and creates a very elegant composition. Nice colors and note.

what is it with you and cars Yitzhak? :-)) But I like this one a lot better than your Morris Minor photo. The coulors are better, the cropping and the composition a LOT better.

Hi Yitzhak, I like the colors and subject. But somehow, I don't quite like the framing, not sure why actually, perhaps it is the outer framing? Too broad? Or perhaps the framing of picture is a little too tight. The image gives a feeling of lost equilibrium (or perhaps its me. hahaha).

Like the contrast between the note and the photo.
The note is very exact, with a lot of details, for technicfreaks.
The photo - for dreamers.
Well done, Yitzhak
