Old, new and reflection, a photo from Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv

Photographer's Note

The title merely is what I saw.
This old houses located on no. 36 Yehuda-Halevi st. in Tel-Aviv , 32.0616, 34.7711 on the map, is
the 揗ani House" that was one of the first buildings in the "Ahuzat-Bayit" neighborhood of early days of the forerunner city of Tel Aviv. This unique building was originally built in 1910 and was home to the family of the honorable judge Malkiel Mani.
Located adjacent to Israel抯 largest bank head office, which we see on the background, the building underwent restoration in 2008 and was converted into the existing visitors and arts center, serving as an open house venue for Israeli art and artists.

A cell phone picture which I took at around 07:00AM on my way to work. The corner POV was due to distracting traffic and disturbing objects on the right side.

This is fantastic photographed, old en new.
But the old building is wonderful against the big fa鏰de in background.
I know a mobile phone is not best but a wonderful picture.
An excellent composition and pleasant sharp and clear picture.

A great mix of old and modern architecture. The contrast between the traditional architecture of the house and the modern glass fa鏰de is wonderful. The glass panes reflect the blue colour wonderfully and this also adds a nice warm cold colour contrast too. Well spotted.

Good Morning Ike,

I think you were right to take the photograph from the corner, it gives us an in depth impression of the older building, with its lovely balconies and balustrade wall. I wonder how the occupants felt about having a high rise building right behind them!
However, as a photograph, the modern and old buildings make a strong contrast in materials and styles. giving an excellent result.
I love the reflections.
It's a photograph that has to be studied carefully to recognise the reality from the reflections - I like that.

J'aime beaucoup cette composition. J'aime le contraste entre la vieille maison et les gratte ciel modernes et en plus les reflets sont spectaculaires.

The morning light was excellent to give these beautiful colours to the reflections.
No easy to understand that everything we see above the corner house is one and the same building.
The house at the front looks very nice and well maintained.

l'impressione � che il vecchio palazzo sembra sorreggere tutti gli altri palazzi pi� moderni.
Molto belli i riflessi, la scomposizione orizzontale sembra seguire esattamente i piani del palazzo.

This is another nice combination of old and new. The older house is very elegant, and it's good that it survived and wasn't torn down to make room for the modern towers. The reflections are also very sharp and interesting.

Hello Ike,
What an interesting combination of old and new. You have already mentioned the reflections in the title, but it's impossible not to mention them again. The different styles of architecture seem to profit from each other, but the stylish older villa is probably the loser in the long run of this architectural battle. That would be a pity.

yes, I think you've posted this subject before right?
the side angle you took it on works so well, its shows the girth and size of the building which i think is important.

Up top, neat to have the middle portion being so different from the blue shiny glass on each side of it. love the contrasting styles, makes for a great visual. nice post for us architecture lovers! cheers

Hello Ike, I like that the frame is filled with the buildings which gives a claustrophobic feel, which you might actually sense if you were there!

A fascinating note about the history of these buildings and a very well seen and composed image of the old "Mani House" with the tall modern building reflected in the immense glass frontage above and behind it.

The light and colours are delightful, your exposure perfect and the details and sharpness exquisite - in fact, the quality of this photograph is quite remarkable considering that it was taken with a mobile phone!

Ike, that old house dating from the begining of the 20th century contrasts with the modern towers in the bg. Their facades reflect what is around. The picture presents different architectural styles coexisting in that neighborhood.� Fine colors, good sharpness, instructive photo note, regards.
