Vadi Quelt deep canyon, a photo from Jerusalem, Yerushalayim

Continue with the series from a day trip to the Judaean Desert monasteries, here is a view of the deep point on the Vadi-Quelt canyon at the entrance to the Saint George monastery (the trail leading up to the cliff-built monastery).
A small garden being cared by the few monks living there.

View was from a lookout point 150m above the canyon at approx. 31.8436, 35.4152 on the map.

Hi Ike

A good downward pov with the twin arched bridge at the bottom providing a superb focal point. Excellent color, sharpness and framing. The gardens at right with palms and purple flowers contrast with the arid surroundings. Tfs!

Hello Ike,
It looks like you took your main photo with a drone.
It's fantastic how people have succeeded in creating a few gardens in this difficult arid area.
The palmtrees and the red flowers give us the illusion of an oasis in the desert.

Hello Ike,
The trees and bushes provide some shade for the monks, and for the photo they give us a nice green contrast to the dominance of light brown rocks. In a way the WS showing us a close view of the buildings of the monastery may be more interesting, but we have seen that before, so this is a nice change. Both photos are immaculately sharp and well exposed.

Hello Ike,
A great bird's eye perspective of this canyon. The entrance to the monastery is well placed in the middle and I like the mix of cliffs and trees. Thank you for asking about my father. He is doing fine, just too busy with other things to be active on TE at the moment.

Hello Ike, an excellent point of view where we see the small bridge that shows the entry point to the monastery.

Hi Ike,
thanks for your explanations under previous photo. I see some of the places are available for tourists just now after the mines have been removed. It is nice to hear that more places are accessible.
Very well spotted composition from above. We see some man made structures going well with the nature. The nature is so beautiful and photogenic there,

again...so funny to see the solar panels on the WS photo, a true sign of old vs new working together :) I wish we could all take a lesson from that, and end all these wars, wishing we could learn that we are all in this together with the common goal of enjoying our lives peacefully. anyways...we can't solve those issues here on TE today :) as you know, i have been enjoying all of these shots you're posting lately, each time I learn something new. cheers

Hi Ike,very deep canyon and this choice of point of view from above is the best way to understant better,a canyon created by the water,and from there it's easy to see the green line of trees that lives thanks to this water. A very sharp capture despite the distance and a new perfect full view of monastery in the WS too! Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano
