Photographer's Note
My last picture about this monastery from the Judean desert journey:
Zoom upon the stunning sight of the St. George's Monastery ("Mar Jeris" in Arabic) which built upon the steep cliff.
This is the place that monks in the Judean Desert chose as early as the fourth century AD to cling to the desert landscapes in solitude.
A Greek Orthodox monastery, located in the channel of Vadi Prat (also named Vadi Quelt) in the Jericho area.
The latest monastery edifice was built in the 19th century, but the religious settlement of the place began as early as the Byzantine period. First, in the fifth century, the monk John of the city of Thebes in Egypt established a monastery of the Quinobion type - a cooperative monastery, which is a later incarnation of a monastery of the Laura type, where the solitary monks met only occasionally. In the sixth century it was first expanded by a monk Georgius (George) of Koziba, and the monastery was named after him.
(Info. From the web).
View was from a lookout point 150m above the canyon at approx. 31.8436, 35.4152 on the map.
Picture converted from RAW, F9.0, 1/500, ISO100, spot, cropped sides.

Hello Ike, I was nearby but I didn't visit this monastery. What a pity! But it was the worst organized tour I was. This photo is FANTASTIC! It looks like Escher drawing. Stunning composition. I like it very much. Best regrads Malgo

Hi Ike
You've saved the best until last! This is up there with Sumela in Turkey and the Pueblo cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde in Colorado, USA. It seems to be very under rated and off the beaten tourist track. Good sharpness tight framing and pov. Tfs!

Hello Ike,
A stunning close view of these amazing buildings seemingly grown out of the mountainside. There are so many details to watch and marvel at and the photo is as well taken as anyone could demand.

Hello Ike,
This is a stunning photograph, with excellent clarity, so that it is easy for us to study the different stone work of the building and that of the natural setting. We can use the steps, or just follow the fine details of the tower, to move from the lower levels to the upper parts, where crosses and bells can be discovered.
An excellent photograph.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Ike,
The tight frame is putting the monastery in evidence. The point of view is showing the details of the St.George monastery. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ike,
A great close-up of the monastery with especially that tower very well placed in the foreground. The three reddish domes are a nice detail as well. The light and clarity are excellent.

Hello Ike
So many architectural details to scrutinize in this close view of the monastery built from local adobe material!
Yo took great care to capture the best of it: The spot metering was for you a useful asset for perfect tonal rendering and the use of a long lens was quite useful, restoring lines verticality despite the severe down aiming.
Looks like there are many secret passageways in there!

Hello Ike,
This is a very attractive presentation in a format that fits very well the different vertical lines of the tower, the building and the rock face.
Great view from that lookout point above the canyon!
Best regards, Paul

Hello Ike,
This close-up shows us so many details of this impressive monastery. I like the bell tower, the domes, and the rock on the far, right side of the frame. I like the earthy colors, too. There's been so much history in this location. Take care!

Hi Ike
another very interesting shot/scene here.
I have counted 4 crosses in this small section, perhaps there are more. the photo came out very well, not over exposed at all, which would have been easy to do as the strong light is striking that beige colored stone. so crisp and clear too, nice one. cheers

Hello Ike,
Hmm, spying on the monks, huh? The tower looks charming, though Bird Air Forces seem to have had some target practice on it.
