Photographer's Note
Just 300m +/- south to the Quasr-al-Yahud site across the border on Jordan kingdom side, is the Russian pilgrim residence. The complex built with a church and a large inn, looks to have typical style of Russian Orthodox edifices.
A close view at the border fence with a warning of a mines field sign.
Location at 31.8325, 35.5473 on the map.
It was a 40c day with high humidity around this location which is approximately 400m+/- bellow sea-level.

Hello Ike,
The orange sign is a great eye-catcher and makes the photo more exciting. It also makes me look closer at the foreground, where I discover the barbed wire. Then I can enjoy the view of the religious buildings in the background. The golden dome is a fine detail.

Gert

Hello Ike,
The monastery complex looks good even from this distance and you managed to get a clear and sharp view of the towers and domes. The mine field makes a pretty saddening foreground.

Hello Ike,
Good to include the fg warning sign and barbed wire for place and context in one of the most heavily fortified regions on the planet. But I returned to Jordan across the Allenby Bridge with passport in hand. It wouldn't be quite so easy for Israelis, Palestinians or Jordanians to cross the border. The bg buildings look both Russian & Greek in style. Tfs!

Hi Ike,
There is quite a difference temperatiure wise between your photo and mine. The point of view is showing the details of the field and of the Russian pilgrim residence. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Ike
An interesting one and a good photo with the mine field in front of the church complex. The gold dome certainly indicates and orthodox church.
cheers

Hello Ike, I have made a virtual walk in the area like you sometimes. I saw this pilgrim site. Indeed, the complex looks like a typical Orthodox church and monastery. I suppose that this green belt is the Jordan River. They have a kind of baptismal place there.
I will not call this picture "nice". It is sad and terrible that this border looks like this: barbed wires, mines, probably soldiers are hidden somewhere.
I remember the borders between East and West. How fortunate we are now in Europe that we have no borders, although they appear again with Covid.
Hopefully, you and your family are safe.

Hi Ike,
It is quite particular to have a pilgrim residence surrounded by mines field. This is not type of holidays I typically have in mind. Great reportage showing quite a unique aspect of this region. In spite of the challenges the place still attracts pilgrims and tourists.
Very well seen and captured,
M

Hello Ike,
The orange warning notice is an immediate eye-catcher and well positioned in your composition!
It is also a very chilling thought that mines have been deployed between your vantage point and the Russian religious buildings!
The details of the buildings are well captured, even better, in the w/s. The golden dome, so reminiscent of religious buildings in Russia.
Do you know what the construction on the far hilltop is?
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Ike,
The buildings of the church and the inn look fairly new.
The strip of green may be long, but it is still very limited in size. The freedom of movement of the pilgrims must also be very limited. But perhaps a pilgrim will find there what he is looking for.
Nicely taken from a safe distance.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Ike
Interesting composition. A church, place of peace and meditation, and a warning sign. That's our world.
Beautiful style of the religious complex.

Hi Ike.
This complex composed of a church and a hotel is very interesting, of course the construction style is in the Russian Orthodox line, all very new but next to a minefield ......?
Good perspective of the image, very pleasing to the eye.
Colorful, sharpness and luminosity are perfect.
Good composition, magnificent presentation.
Have a good day.
Warm greetings.
Luis.

Hello Ike
I just spent time online trying to understand why Israel is surrounded by so much unwelcoming borders; there is so much information to learn.
On top of having Russian-style duomos it seems to me that they used building material of adobe origin to erect the complex, since the color is quite similar to the arid environment.
You show with great details a fascinating view of the Middle East.
