Photographer's Note
A common sight while traveling through the Judean desert terrain, Sheep and black Syrian-Goats.
Also known as Damascus-Goats, originated in Middle East countries such as Syria and was imported by the British into Cyprus, in the early 1920th. A Climate tolerance breed, therefore found in harsh arid landscape (Info from the web).
Picture was taken from the bus window, under late afternoon light, on our way back from the Mar-Saba monastery visit.
General direction east of Jerusalem, alongside the road was at 31.71, 35.3266 on the map.
RAW, F5.0, 1/800, ISO100.

Hi Ike
This almost looks like a painting. A good one of this arid but used area.
By the way there are over 1000 varieties of eucalypts and I'm sure that the ones in that photo of mine wouldn't suit your arid climate - the ones taken there (and I've seen equivalent ones in Greece as well) would have been from a dryer region.
cheers
Ian

Witaj Ike!
A very curious place, view makes impression.
Black syrian goats and sheep add flavor to this composition.
I like framing, colors and light.
Well done.
Good morning.

Hello Ike, I like to see the herds of goats and sheep. There is something timeless in such a view, especially in the biblical land. The terrain is harsh and arid, what they eat there?
Good photo taken from the bus window.
I am a bit tired with TE, although I rarely post something, I still look at the pictures.
Best regards MAlgo

Hello Ike,
A very nice view of this pretty empty and barren landscape with gentle slopes, which also nicely emerge from the haze in the distance. The groups of goats are well placed in the middle.

Hello Ike,
It's a nice picture of these friendly animals, and it's very sharp for a photo taken through a bus window. I have a feeling a similar view could be seen back in Biblical days too.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ike
The fg is pin sharp but the bg is hazy and indistinct. Together they add a fantastic contrast. Nice repetition of the sheep and goats. There probably have not been any predator wolves or lions in these parts for many centuries. Tfs!

Hi Ike,
The wideness of the area is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the sheeps and of the black-syrian goats. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ike, there doesn't seem to be much for the animals to feed upon, but as you describe, they are climate tolerant.
I like the diagonal line of the foreground, with the hills disappearing into the distance.
Very interesting.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Ike,
This seems like such a timeless scene, the arid landscape, dotted with goats and sheep, seems like something from the Bible!
You did well, considering you took this through a bus window!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Ike,
In this photo the black goats have mixed nicely with the sheep.
We even find a lonely donkey.
Whenever I see such a photo, I always think what a sad existence for these animals. Always looking for food where hardly anything grows.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Ike,
on one hand traveling by bus is convenient, you don't need to think anoiut the road and you can watch the views and enjoy them, on another you cannot always stop when you yould like to.
Nice scene with the cattle. I have never seen such black goats indeed.
Very interesting reportage,
M

Hello Ike,
Lovely view of this flock in the wilderness. You managed to get a nice shot through the bus window.

PS. In my critique for "Deir Hajla golden domes" I recommended using spot metering in scenes where the light varies greatly. The technique is effective if you have an electronic viewfinder, since the electronic viewfinder provides an image from the sensor. The technique might not be that effective if you are using a DSLR with an optical viewfinder.
