Photographer's Note

Today is the Jewish New-Year's eve, and found this picture of the Tolerance Monument most adequate to post, as we Israelis constantly yielding for peace in our complex region.
Built near the compound of the UN Headquarters in Jerusalem, designed as two halves of a culumn with an Olive-tree branch, symbol of peace. The monument composed and built by the Polish sculptor Czesław Dźwigaj.

just now I saw this picture. Of course, I also wish you a Happy New Year!

Tolerance is one of the most important qualities that people can have. Without this there can be no peaceful coexistence. Unfortunately, there are always stupid,
narrow-minded people who want to prevent that. Anywhere in the world and at all times. Senseless to try to educate them about tolerance. But there are also others who are willing to learn. For such people, such monuments are built. To get them thinking.

This picture is pretty. It is very clear and has great colors. It is a pleasure to look at it.

Hello Ike,

I remembered the previous posting but this is good in that we can now see the details of its textures. The light is lovely, polishing one surface and shading the other creating a lovely 3D effect.

an image of real symbolism that carries hope that a new Jewish year will be a lot more peaceful than the last one.
We can only hope so, but I fear that the world is still full of inequality and turmoil.
It looks like an impressive monument and I really like this image of it.

And a "Happy New Year" to you as well. :) A beautiful monument indeed...relatively simple, but very poignant with it's olive branch centerpiece. If only it could in fact be extended worldwide, we would all be much better for it.

Hello Ike,
a happy and peaceful year for you and the whole region! Peace must be truly desired to exist, it doesn't materialize through wishes and monuments, it has to be based on love and appreciation of life. I wish we didn't have to be reminded of this by monuments but in the world we live today, their role is useful. Although, in my opinion, the monument isn't so clear and elegant in its concept, your picture is wonderfully simple clear and sharp. The delicious light and the soothing blue sky are so reassuring. Happy New Year.

A good presentation of that monument to a virtue that is much neglected in many parts of the world. I imagine that the sunlight in Israel must be very alike most of the Mediterranean, gorgeous if well tamed, but quite challenging because of its intensity, so I admire how the photo is so well exposed.
