Laura, from the web:
A Laura is a cluster of cells or caves near a monastery where members of the community live in seclusion around the area. The caves were connected by narrow paths through them the monks would meet occasionally (end quote).

Built into the cliff of the Saint George monastery, there are a number of ancient Laura places. On the WS#1 there is a wider view of same spot, with a ladder that may give the idea how monks climb to the isolation chambers.

On the WS#2 there is a modern Laura built on a higher rock from the monastery, equipped with solar panels and probably running water.

Saint George located above the canyon of Vadi Quelt in the Judean desert, east of Jerusalem, half way to Jericho, 31.8433, 35.4148 on the map.

RAW, F8.0, 1/800, ISO100, CW.
