Photographer's Note
From time to time I let myself succumb to this urge of sharing my photo memories with you. It makes me sad that I have so few decent scans, so every time I am browsing my archives and it crosses my mind "hmmm, maybe this one is worth a post", there I go...
I guess that this amazing region of Capadocia doesn't need to be introduced to anyone who ever was interested about the (many!) major highlights that Turkey has to offer to its visitors. These rock formations usually called fairy chimneys are the most famous features of the landscape of the region, but its villages, ruins of very old monasteries (probably that kind of thing first appeared here) and underground cities would still be enough to make this place an amazing and unique destination.
I have no idea of where exactly I shot this one. I am just hoping that at least the province/state is correct. I am pretty sure that this post of jemaflor was shot on the same area. Curiously, it was also taken only some days before mine.
I posted another view in a WS.

Hello Jose,
A very different photograph from you, not too many natural shots in your gallery. I like it very much, the rocks do form into varied and interesting shapes.
Beautiful blue sky and the colours of the rocks are perfect. Not too often one sees a scan that has this quality. very well done.
TFS.

Hello José,
The deep blue sky serves as a dramatic backdrop for the macabre landscape presented by Cappadocia. The general structure with a general diagonal structure bisects the frame. It's an original composition, and a successful scan. Leo61 has sent some recent shots, of Cappadocia. Here is one that you might be interested in seeing, called Cappadokian wrinkles.
Warm regards, and have a good week.

Amazing, sometimes, the sculptures we see in nature, José. You’ve captured the texture of these very well, and the low shooting angle, blend of light and shadow, and backdrop against the pristine blue sky all serve to show off the sculpting here to advantage. Cappadocia appears to be a fascinating place, with a long and storied history that goes back to at least one New Testament mention, if I recall correctly. Thanks for the interesting shot and informative note. BTW, your workshop post is intriguing, too, but I like this one better.

Ola Jose,
A simple & impressive combination of the clear blue sky, the beauties of Capadocia looks great. Although it was scanned, the sharpness is OK.
Congrats and have a nice week,

It certainly is an amazing area I would love to visit some day. It seems to have endless opportunities for a whole range of different compositions. I like the way you have zoomed in on some detail; the small rock perched on a pinnacle looks very precarious but it's probably been like that for thousands of years. The scan quality is good. I see where you have managed to bring some of the texture out of the shadowy area on the right, although it does look a touch unnatural. Nevertheless it is a very good image. I also like the WS with a slightly wider view. The lead-in quality provided by the perspective of the closer rocks works very well. Good work

Salam Jose,
Interesting rock formation..it reminded me of one of the villages in Iran too -Kandovan- there, people live in the houses made inside the rocks..like to see this famous place in Turkey too..thanks for sharing.

Olá José,
a good strong blue above those rock formation with its good textures and a strong contrast to the shadow part. May I assume shadow opening or something like this? For me a touch too much and it takes attention from the good main subject.

Olà José,
A beautiful image of Cappadocia. The creativity of the natuur.
I like your POV very well selected; the rocks arise very well in the blue of the sky.

Filipe

Jose, I like the less structured flavor of this photo, it seems very alive. I also find it much like places in the American West. Color is nice and the detail is fantastic, great capture.

Hello Jose,
It is amazing to see what wind and water can do over time, given the right material to work with!
Interesting point o view here, adding lines and dynamics to the composition...
Attractive colour palette, the colours of the rocks contrast well with the blue sky!
