Photographer's Note
In the downtown area of St. John's,these colorful houses are abundant . I'm on a walking trip this morning and I decided to take a few pictures . However there were a number of cars blocking the view so I took the best picture I could .
I would appreciate some comments on the composure and color of this picture . I am not sure how it could be improved , maybe cropped a little ? Realistically I should try and come back when there are few were cars . Unfortunately it was garbage day and that explains the garbage piled up in the street . In hindsight , not a great day for picture taking but I couldn't resist .

Nice colors. Cute houses! Are people from St-John's color blind? Just kidding! Guess the love colors! Thanks for sharing it.

Good shot Jim! I see you had the same problems with wires that I did... I do wish Hydro would bury them. The pile of garbage doesn't add to the shot, but it does at least tell us that people live here :-D

It must be nice to live or simply walk on a street where there are so nice lovely coloured houses. I don't mind electric wires and posts in a shot of a city street, it's part of the environment, not particularly nice but reality. I would much more mind it on a photo of nature, or just a little wire coming out from nowhere to disturb the image. I think the colors are just fine, well saturated and nice blue sky and clouds.

It's not an easy feat to mix photography with electrical wires and posts but you have succeeded in conveying the true image of a downtown street in St.John's with its tight houses and vivid colours. There is one thing missing though Jim...where are all those stray dogs I remember seeing everywhere in the streets of St.John's??...or was that too long ago :-)

Indeed a colourful street shot. I actually like the inclusion of the garbage pile, it reminds the viewer of a self-evident action and contributes to the lively atmosphere.
You already raised the idea yourself about cropping Jim, I just posted a workshop that perhaps creates more the idea of an infinite row of houses...

I like the composition of the houses. I think that the white house in bottom does not end the group of houses well?! I agree with AdrianW about problems with the wires. But important it's a pic, and that is okey.
