Photographer's Note
This is a photograph of the Lower Battery shot today with a temperature of -17°C and a wind chill of -29°C. As you can see by cars, you can drive out but the road this extremely narrow. The architecture and color of the houses are unique. Where else would you build a small community on solid rock?
The ocean is starting to freeze.

Hello Jim,
A fascinating view of these houses of all shapes and sizes huddled together on the rocks. Very good clarity and nice colours. Very brave of you to venture out in those sort of weather conditions! TFS.

Hi Jim,
Nice picture. I like the contrast between the colourfuk buildings and the snowy mountain. Nice composition as well with good proportion between water/land. Interesting note too.
Well done!
Quentin.

What memories you have brought back! I dearly miss Signal Hill. I like the composition here very much. I find that you have banced the forboding of the rock with the dangerof the water. Perhaps this means you captured the essence of Newfoundland :) I love how the colours really jump out... Newfies determined not to let the rugged land get in the way of a good time!

Hi Jim, excellent shot, and it sounds like under adverse conditions. The snow helps accentuate the colours of the homes here.
Thanks, John

Hi Jim,
What a great photo!! I haven't yet been to Newfoundland and this makes me want to go even more- despite the cold! It has been funny weather this year in Nova Scotia. I might like some real winter after all. Great perspective.

This is a really great shot of this small community. Canada is too large of a country, and I have never been further east than Quebec. But hopefully one day I can visit, the east coast has some spectacular places, and this area looks like one of them.

This photo was part of what inspired me to go to Newfoundland this past summer! And it's inspiration to go back in the winter.

This is an amazing picture with these colorful houses defying gravity on these bare rocks. Nice colors and sharpness. Reminds me a bit of Norway with these coloured houses.

John
