Photographer's Note
“Weather beaten” is the name of this photo taken on a walk on waterfront. This rusty water valve on the outside of a deep blue ship provided a stark contrast coupled with added ice, gave a great opportunity for a photograph I couldn’t resist.
As usual it was a very cold of sunny morning, and the bright light helped to deepen the dramatic colors.
The layer of a ship appears to be rugged and weather beaten and a coat of paint wouldn’t go astray in covering the imperfections and wrinkles similar to a person getting a face lift.
Unfortunately fresh paint, or the facelift, would cover these wonderful imperfections and remove the visual history of this old boat, a story well worth telling.
Why would anyone get a face lift and hide the story of an interesting life?
Some people may want to stay young forever.
This photograph was cropped, level adjusted and saved for the web.

it is an abstract painting, not a photo. hahaha. Wonderful colors, very interesting and intriguing after we think it is only a water valve

Hi Jim...
I am particularly partial to abstract images found in nature, architecture, industrial installations, etc., and I like this image very much. Ir is a great example of what can happen when a talented photographer with a good eye looks past the mundane to find a gem in the detail. A rusty ship is just a rusty ship, but a rusty valve can be an intriguing abstract.

Hi Jim
Great composition. It just looks like a pain on a canvas. When i say i though of it as an abstract art. Good POV and fine color.
