Photographer's Note
This photograph was taken in Trinity two years ago. Early one morning I went on a hike, with my camera, and I spotted this small old house with an aged out- house on the back as you can see. It must have been cold using the washroom when it was twenty below.
The inhabitants of this house years ago could see their neighbors across the bay on a fine day. When I took this photograph it was cloudy and threatening to rain. You cannot plan photographs and sunshine around here! When I look at this picture I am reminded of the lovely hikes I had in Trinity early in the mornings.
This photograph was sharpened in the lab color, and a sponge tool was used to enhance the colors of the house.

Great. Heavy sky, live grass, bright house in the center - just classics in its best form :)

Hi Jim. Beautiful shot, though I wish the horizon were straighter. I have done a workshop to illustrate. I also cropped some of the sky out.

Great composition - so hard to get the full effect when it is overcast! The loneliness of the cottage might have been emphasised if you had zoomed out a bit more? That might have caused even more loss it contrast light on the roof - I do not know.

My immediate thought, apart from the sloping horizon, was that there was a lot of nothing around the house and that all that space added little to the picture. The title though, wouldn't mean much without all that space !!
There is definitely the sense of isolation but that is spoilt somewhat for me by all the buildings on the far shore. I think I might have used a little artistic licence and cloned them out to increase the sense of isolation.
I'm not sure that Adam would approve of doing that though.

It's a very nice picture, you succeed well in showing the lonelyness of the house and the area itself. May be it would help to add some contrast and luminosity but I am not sure if it will not defeat the meaning of the picture.
Excellent

Jim, I like this lonely looking old house but am bothered by the sloping horizon. I did a quick workshop.

The warm colors of that pic are very apealing and you really well captured the mood of the area. A need to straiten of the horizon is obvious though.

Nice picture and a very strange location for this kind of house. It looks rather fragile. I wouldn't like to be in this house when a tornado is approaching! I don't have to say anything about the horizon; others have already done some workshops for you to set that right.

A clever composition, taking advantage of the reflections. Nicely composed and sharp. Well done, Jim.

Beautiful shot, it reminds about the movie "The Shipping News" (with Kevin Spacey). But the house itself is much nicer than the one in the movie... The colors and details are great. Well seen, well framed & well commented.

Great place - good catch.
The weather enhances the sense of isolation.
The house is centred in the photo but that seems to work. Perhaps that the red roof looks a little too red (but maybe I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't mentioned your touch-up.)
I have added this to the new theme "Rules - lets break them" (No-subject-in-centre-rule broken.)
