Ottawa Streetscape

A daily life capture from the streets of Ottawa, capital city of Canada, in the same style as my recent post from Trois-Rivi鑢es. The photo was taken on the junction of York Street and Sussex Drive, close to the U.S. Embassy. The church towers in the background belong to the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica, which I posted earlier: Maman in Ottawa.

Door zijn mooie positie brengt de fietser hier echt wel iets extra in dit shot. Ook de kleuren en het licht zijn fantastisch. Knap effect op de rij gevels, knap ook hoe alles naar de kerktorens leidt.

The length of the street is giving depth and perspective to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the buildings. the good luminosity is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Lars,
There are several stars of this photo but the two main ones, which also keep the composition nicely together, are in my mind the cyclist turning the corner in the foreground, and the church towers in the distance. Between them the street shows a number of fine buildings and creates good depth. By the nearest corner a number of people create enough life, apart form that cyclist, to keep me happy. There's a lovely light and fine clarity.

Hi, Lars,
Ottawa looks like some typical European city, and Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica adds more similarity with France, for example. Simple but interesting daily life image, very nice composition, marvelous colours and fine details!

Nice showing the street action under bright sunny day.
The architecture design looking very European, like a mix of Paris and London, anyway - to my eyes.

The spitse kerktoen steekt er mooi tuusen uit.
Ook de fietser in de voorgrond toont dat fietsen ook mogelijk is in een groot stad als Ottawa.
De architectuur laat heel mooi zien tot wat men in staat is om een stad te bouwen.
Fijne details en heel mooi scherp en helder, bedankt.

Je viens juste de prendre une photo tr鑣 semblable dans la belle ville de Qu閎ec. Une magnifique ligne de fuite qui pousse le regard vers les clochers d'間lise en point d'orgue.

Twee zilvergrijze kerktorens, dat moet Canada zijn. Mooi straatbeeld met natuurlijk die fietser prominent in beeld in schril contrast met die fietsers die daarachter voorzichtig proberen over te steken.

composition and timing are superb. I like very much how you almost filled the frame with the diminishing luminous facades and how delightfully the cyclist distracts us from the main perspective with his movement in the opposite direction. There's grace and rhythm both in the repeating elements and in the people's movement. Depth, sharpness and colours are marvellous. Congratulations and thank you!

Hi Lars,
the overall atmosphere resembles the one in the photo from Quebec. Very elegant is taken care off.
Here additionally you have a nice church in the distance which makes the cityscape even more interesting. The bike in the foreground adds also some action and interest.

Hi Lars, Nice picture from Ottawa. Not so many bikes like in Holland, but probably enough to make you feel happy. But I do not see special paths for them. Nice decoration on the lampposts. Even yellow lights look here attractive. Nice picture. Canada is not exotic compared to South America but seems lovely.

The city must be a very good place to ride a bike, as we can see many bikes here! Wonderful composition!

You have written an interesting note - and thank you for also including a map which, as a dedicated "cartophile", I love.

Your image is beautifully composed, the long line of the street leading us nicely into the frame while the cyclist turning in your direction really does "hold" the composition together and also adds foreground human interest.

This place looks remarkably clean and tidy and you have captured it perfectly with good light and colours, perfect exposure and exceptional details and sharpness, best seen, of course, in the full sized image.

The intent cyclist at bottom left adds a strong focal point which is enhanced by his dark tones. Good sharpness and the spire of the bg cathedral is another fine eyecatching detail. Tfs!

That pretty street, you've picked a fantastic POV, much harmony in height and style of the facades, on which stand the magnificent spiers of the cathedral, the group of people with their bikes gives a nice touch vital.
