East Block
A photo from the political heart of Canada, Parliament Hill (Colline du Parlement) in the country's capital city of Ottawa.
The main building on Parliament Hill is Centre Block with the Peace Tower, which I posted last year. But Parliament Hill consists of more buildings, like this one: East Block (officially: Eastern Departmental Building, Édifice administratif de l'est). Built in Victorian High Gothic Style, East Block was completed in 1866 and contains offices for parliamentarians.

Hi Lars,
You have captured well the people working to renovate the building. The point of view is showing the details of the east section of the Parliament building. The good luminosity is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Bon samedi

Hello Lars,
Normally a crane attached to a landmark building would be highly disturbing, but in this case I really like the blue diagonal that is created. The mainly white police car and the men in orange add further bright colours. It's a magnificent building with lots of great architectural details, best seen in the largest version, and I like the green roofs above the grey walls.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Lars
Impressive and unique building and toy really chose the best angle to shoot from. Lovely light and the police car actually adds a lot of energy and contrast to the photo. Very cool!

Hello Lars,
your composition is dynamic and solid, the building is imposing and its shape dominates the frame. I like the contrast between the foreground and the dynamic lines of the building. You achieved excellent sharpness and really brought out the character of the East Block. The colours have a very attractive intensity. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a good night,
Ourania

Hi Lars
Man I miss Ottawa, I used to live here for 5 years, but that was 20 years ago - so it's been awhile.
thanks for uploading this one because we don't get to see the secondary Parliament Buildings, ever. We always see the Main Centre Block.
brings back a few memories for sure.
excellent choice of pov with the tower in the middle and extending out in both directions.
cheers

My first thought was it is a castle, I think sometimes officials and parliamentarians believe they are in a fortress, beautiful and clear photo, very well chosen POV

Hello Lars,
A massively built fort that nowadays a part of the government buildings there.
Corner POV gave good impression of how it was masterfully built back in time, style and deign.
Have a nice Sunday, thanks for your note on mine.

Dag Lars,
Mooi foto werk, bedankt.
Prettige zondag verder,
John.

Hello Lars,
You have written a fascinating note and given us a lovely photograph to admire.
This is indeed a charming photograph and the presence of the police car in the foreground and the "cherry picker" being used, presumably, to access some repair work on the tower windows, do not detract from its appeal.
This was obviously a lovely day, the light and colours are just perfect as also is your exposure and the details and sharpness are exquisite.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. It's strange what the TE website seems to do with photographs as I find, at least on my monitor, that this photograph, at it's "shrunk" size on "new" TE, appears oversharpened whereas at full size it looks perfect. But, of course, your full size is quite large - perhaps around 3000 x 2000 pixels - though I've not actually measured it.
Strangely, I note that when Craig (macjake) posts pictures, he uploads them at about 900 pixels wide and when they are reduced on the website they appear less than sharp.
I tend to upload at around 1200 to 1400 wide so that pictures can easily be viewed on "new" or "beta" versions but I'm not convinced that this doesn't have its problems too.

Hallo Lars,

Saluti

Hi Lars,
I thought it will somehow relate to what people call Eastern Europe :)
Beautiful postcard like presentation. The architecture is splendid, very unique. Plus you had also an amazing sky, the clouds feel very smooth and dynamic, as if long time exposure or strong wind.
Police car makes a nice foreground since police cars have some characteristic decorations in each country so it is interesting to see Canadian.
Excellent work,
M

Hello Lars,
Perfect use of perspective in this marvellous wide angled shot of the Gothic style building by placing the key vertical lines centrally and letting the lens barrel distorted sides fall where they will. Good sharpness and color too. Tfs!

Hi Lars.
A building that does not go unnoticed with this attractive structure with neo-gothic reminiscences, its varied volumes and towers make it extremely attractive.
Very good brightness and sharpness, with beautiful colors.
Well seen and done better. I like it
Have a nice day.
Best wishes.

Hello Lars, You pictures are big and I have troubles to open them recently, but now it is OK.Usually such cranes are rather nuisance but here it is an interesting element in the composition. Fantastic building in the Gothic style. Also nice view of the street below.

Dag Lars Your chosen angle showing the building on two sides in the same shot enhances the majesty of the secular construction. Attractive complement on upper right side of your picture. I also notice the modern means now used by the bells ringer! Groeten. Robert

Mooi hoe de toren centraal oprijst hier, Lars. De blauwe ladder links en de lelijke stelling rechts...zelfs die spelen een mooie rol in het plaatje.
