Photographer's Note

Hello Trekkies! I haven't posted for a long time because I haven't been photographing. Before Easter I had the chance to participaate in a project for one of our local churches -- to create a visual accompaniment slide show for their annual Good Friday concert. This is one of the images from the show. It's the narthex of Toronto's Metropolitan United Church, one of the city's oldest churches. I tried to capture the inspiring atmosphere produced by the stained glass windows. I went early in the morning to get the light streaming through the window and reflected on the floor. The trick was to balance the contrast of the interior with the light from the window. Using a tripod in this situation is a must. I metered for the mid tones of the reflection on the floor. In the end, I did have to burn down (darken) the window a bit.
