Photographer's Note
Admittedly, I'm a couple hours late, but these pictures were taken on Earth Day, so that counts, right?
I had been planning for several days to go out Friday night (April 21) to catch the Lyrid meteor shower. Friday evening, I went to sleep at 8:00 pm. When I woke up about three hours later to check on conditions, I saw an email alert that an aurora was likely. So I headed out to Castle Mountain rather than my initial choice of Kananaskis Country. It was the right choice.
This was the most vivid display of light during the two hours of nearly constant show I was there. There were better colors later, but nothing as bright as this.

Hi Clark,
this is a top image, especially with respect to its cause.
Excellent colours, a rest of natural sunlight on the tree tops, light without any human being visible
Its juxtaposition would be a world's satellite image taken by night.
Have a nice sunday, and best regards from Germany
