Photographer's Note

This is the facade of the Cathedral dating from 1906, all that remains after the fire of July 22, 1968. The large, open circle was a rose-coloured, stained-glass window that, along with the remainder of the facade, sacristy and walls survived. The Cathedral faces to the west, the Red River and Broadway Avenue in Winnipeg, and the photograph was taken from the nearby Tach Avenue. A cemetery lines either side of the walkway, the final resting place for each of Louis David Riel and his father, Louis Riel Sr..
