Winter Beach Scene, a photo from British Columbia, Western

Photographer's Note

Another shot from the beach at White Rock. It's hard to believe that this is an active beach in the sunny summer, but in December it's cold and deserted. Despite the temperature, the beach has lost none of it's beauty. I would have liked to have a stronger composition for this, but I liked the way the ripples in the sand matched the ripples in the clouds.

fantastic atmosphere shot Alvin,
the composition is nice to look at ant the reflecticion, made the view very nice, well taken shot, good job,

Hi Alvin,
This one works for the colors you captured, since we can't see precisely what's floating below, we can imagine these are icebergs... To be honest I prefered by far your previous one as it showed a great composition, I understand from the note you lacked time to work out one and shot here for the colors.

Hi Alvin - even though I prefer the previous, this one is also magnificent, the blazing red clouds are beautifully reflected, and the patterns in the sand do look like a continuation of the reflections.

Hello Alvin,

I also witnessed this beautiful sunset...it was from my livingroom window (sadly enough) and not from this beautiful beach.

Anyway, this photo is stunning! The colors are amazing and the reflection on the water and the ripples in the sand are awesome. Great composition and well captured!

Amazing deep reds in this sunset, Alvin. Beautiful reflections of the fluffy blanket of clouds, and another nice choice of vertical framing to give good impact to the photo. Very nice.

Hi Alvin,
the colours are what grab me here, they create a wonderful mood. All of the different textures combine to create an interesting overall even without a 'strong' composition.

I think it's a very strong composition, Alvin! Partial top/bottom symmetry (but not too much), good balance of light and dark areas, interesting shapes in the foreground for interest. What more could you want? And the arrangement of textures is outstanding! It's a serene and beautiful scene. Regards, Ken.

Absolutely superb! The colours are out of this world. It looks like an artist impression of a sunset on Titan, one of Saturn's moons.

Alvin, the colours in this photo are amazing. It demonstrates well that the best colours are after the sun has set. I love the texture in the clouds and the rocks.

Cool shot...

I have to ask, did you play with the saturation at all- man, I REALLY miss the BC sunsets! (It's killing me that I can't be back in Canada for x-mas this year!).

Good detail, levels, and colors- but the most important thing in this shot (IMHO) is the horizon is perfectly level ;-)
