Photographer's Note
The Red Old Tide Mill built in 1770 still stands majestically on the pond. For 50 years it was owned and operated by David Kirby. It used the changing tides and sluice gates to power the grinding wheels. Today these wheels flank the entrance to Tide Mill Yacht Basin, a 60 boat marina, owned and operated by the Donahue family.
The sluice gates between the wooded hammocks and mill control the tidal flow of fresh sea water into the pond. The incoming tide brings in young crabs, shellfish, eels, snappers and tiny marine animals in larval stages. Here they find a suitable place to settle and grow, expanding the biodiversity of the pond.

Hi Angela - Pretty subject, I like the calm reflections, and the mist adds a pleasant atmosphere, I wish there was a bit of sunlight to better bring out the deep red of the mill, and a boat, duck or swan in the water would have been great.

Hello, Angela.
A very nice picture, very sharp and crisp with lovely subdued colours.
What an interesting note too - interesting to read that nearly 250 years ago they were harvesting the power of the tides to drive machinery and we are now starting to use that power to produce electricity. Nothing is new in the World, is it?
Kind Regards,
John.

Angela, this is a really fine composition, the positioning of the mill is great tho it is a shame it was so foggy because it hides the rest of the bg. Nice capture.

Hi Angela, very nice shot of this old mill. It's very well composed with the mill off to the right, with it's reflection, while leaving room to see the town behind, that it would have supported. The grey tones of the water and sky are very nicely contrasted with the rich red of the mill itself. Clarity is good with great sharp detail seen in the mill and the town behind. Nice tie in with your frame to complete the presentation.
Thanks, John

Hello Angela,
I just came by your growing gallery while visiting John (jmcl)'s excellent shots from the bucolic west. This is a lovely shot from conception to implementation. The composition, colors and resolution are excellent, especially in that they display how light degrades with distance, something the Renaissance artists first discovered (specifically Leonardo). The reflection of the old mill creates excellent delineation both in the and its reflection in the water.
Warm regards from Virginia,
Bulent

hi Angela
Your landscape works are really superb and you are now good at your own style. This is a good example of your using the red building as frame and its color to balance the photo.
.nicely composed in this pov
.include calm water as FG (element of water!)
.misty BG (without sun it still works well)
.nice mood of cloudy day
.sharp
.informative Note
Well done. Keep shooting!

Hello Angela
Although the lighting does not help much, reflexes that are observed in the shade, are significant. I like the depth of field that occurs, and the balance in the composition.

The vivid red mill bring this image to life. Striking reflection with lovely details. The foggy background really give this photo a salty seaside flavor. Very interesting note.

Hi, Angela. You've chosen an off-centre composition with the mill on the right leaving enough space to see the houses and forest in the background. This composition gives a very good depth to the picture. The red mill is also a good source of contrast. There are nice reflections on the water. Maybe a bird on the water would have made the image a little more dynamic. A pity for that dull sky, which didn't gice you a very good light unfortunately.

Hello Angela -
These New England villages have some wonderful old buildings to build compositions around. This is a great composition with the red mill occupying about 1/3rd of the image. I think I would like to have seen a bit more of the reflection as it continues toward the camera. The fog in the BG is nice but I think there is some color shifts going on. Here I think more fog would have preferable but we work with what we have at the time. This well seen and presented.
Thank you for sharing.
John

Lovely red reflections on the water. I like the way that the colour intensity of the Mill draws your eye, and the township in the distance creates the scene.

Hello Angela.
A photo, a fade.
The game film records.
Quit an image, and propose another.
Building a diaphragm and opened fire, shading the prospect.
A success.
If I read known.
I hope.
Greetings and congratulations
