Photographer's Note
Another in my ongoing project to visit and photograph all 50 US state capitol buildings. This series is from Nashville, the capital city of Tennessee.
I've written a lot about Nashville already in my posts on the Nashville music scene, so I'll spare you the long discussion on this one. This is the State Capitol in Nashville; sitting atop Capitol Hill, it can be seen from most parts of the city.
It's a building very much in the Greek Revivalist style, looking not unlike a classical Greek temple. It is one of only a few capitols without a dome; instead it has a small cupola or lantern. I was lucky to be able to visit the capitol three days during the trip; this first, I caught a beautiful sunset reflected off the side of the building.

Hello Andrew,
That wonderful sky makes a splendid backdrop to the golden tones of the architecture. I like the point of view and the off-centre placement of the building. Also, the light and shadow contrasts. A well presented image with excellent colours and clarity.

Hello Andrew,
This is a splendid photograph in which the golden tones of the magnificent stonework stand out beautifully against the blue of that characterful and interesting sky. Blue and yellow/gold always work extremely well together, probably because they are complementary colours.
While this is a lovely photograph, your larger version (on Flickr) is simply stunning and I think the reason for that is the "tighter" crop which really makes the building dominate the picture: in this version here, I think it would benefit from cropping of some or all of the trees on the right which don't really contribute much to the composition.
Nonetheless, a wonderful photograph and a very interesting (as always) note.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Bonjour Andrew,
The clouds give a sensation of movement to this beautiful building. Seems like a large ship cruising its way through the sea.
Very well captured my friend with an amazing POV. The clarity and sharpness are just fine.
All the best

Ciao Andreaw
Ciao e buona giornata
Romano

hi Andrew,
Thansk for this one, I've a new favourite both in my favourites, and in yur fine collection of state capitals. This is really beautiful, the angle on the building is perfect to show its stature and really cool architecture. The clouds of course make so much of an element to the whole image, I like how you composed the building to show so much of that sky.
Really great one, thansk for sharing.
All the best

Hello Andrew, very nice shot here. Lovely sky, in good contrast with the color on this beautiful building. I've seen the one in Washington D.C. and the one in Hartford, CT. So i won't mind if you can show us all of them. The one in CT was tremendous on the inside also.
Good luck with your quest.
Regards!

Ciao Andrew
una bella architettura rifinita in stile classico, la luce è molto buona ed il cielo è fantastico.
La foto sembra quasi surreale per la mancanza di auto e persone.
Saluti

Andrew, fabulous clouds and great light throughout. This is definitely a nonstandard US state capitol building, sans dome and not in the usual style. I like the flowerbed in the foreground as well. Nicely done.

Hi Andrew
wonderful POV. the POV made the shot in my opinion, not so much the light (but of course that helped too :)
the side angle gives such perspective and smart looking long lines, not to mention depth. the building in this angle looks power and demands respect, whereas if you took the photo straight on it looses some impact.
great shot!
see you around
cheers

Hello Andrew,
Seeing the thumbnail, I thought already 'Wow, what a fantastic sky with those many long lines of clouds!'
You took this capitol building from an excellent angle and I also like the beautiful colour contrast between its brown golden tones and the blue of the sky.

Hi Andrew,
the architecture of this State Capitol really appeals to me and the reference to Greek architecture is here obvious, but what I like the most about your stunning composition is such great wide perspective you provide us here...and so amazing sky, which makes here really lovely backdrop for the scene.
Brilliant shot Andrew!
Have a nice weekend

Hi Andrew,
Great classical architectural shot with perfect spot-on lighting! The building in the distance gives us a good idea that the Capitol is located on a hill, as you are saying. The sky is really outstanding here, too!
Have a great weekend!

Hi Andrew,
as we have limited day comments I will comment here but for two photos. I really like that view of Tennessee State Captol. The sky was really pretty and the light on the building was really good, the forground shadow area increase the built of the building.
The other photo is the inside one showing the chandelier, I really like the point of view resulting in a kind of abstract photo with many light effects.
I like the other flikr images too.

Hi Andrew,
Awesome shot! This almost looks to be more of a courthouse than a capitol. I didn't realize there were only but a few capitols that don't have a dome, definitely gives it a bit of a different twist. You captured this perfectly, the warm glow of sunlight against the blue sky is gorgeous. Did you take this on a weekend, it seems there should be some cars in the lot...or Tennessee isn't get much done!?? :) Love the wide angle and point of view this projects, you nailed the exposure...really great image! Have a terrific week ahead.
All the best,

Hi Andrew
The clouds in this shot pull the watcher straight to the building. It is a very dynamic shot with vibrant colour hues and high sharpness. Well done
BTW,the cloth you saw in my picture from Chiang Rai has a good reason: On my E3 I can flip out the monitor screen, so that I can stand and take pictures without going on the same low level then my photo subject - it is candid camera, what I did when I took this shot. There was a cloth hanging from above which I could not remove without being noticed.
Warm regards
Urs

Bonjour Andrew,
J'aime beaucoup la construction de cette image. J'aime que le Capitol soit placé sur la gauche du cadrage pour laisser beaucoup d'espace à ce très beau ciel.

Hi Andrew
Another one with really nice light.
I've just read the discussion below regarding the importance of light and POV in this image and I'd like to add to it - what really makes it for me is the cloud patterns in the sky. :)
Best wishes

Hi Andrew,
This is really wonderful shot, I love those clouds formation and the wonderful warm light illuminated the Capitol building. The lack of cars and people give the place a peaceful feeling. You manage the light and shade very well. Excellent quality and good POV and composition.
