Photographer's Note
Apparently the same folks who own the previously-pictured Traveller have a second one. I just saw it this morning and did a quick walkaround. I am more and more impressed with the sturdiness of these machines, as this one had clearly not had the benefit of covered parking for many years, but was still in running condition.
The decay of the wood trim provided a number of interesting close-ups. This frame is an experiment in composition. Your reactions are solicited!

Hey Russ
This reminded me of an old English car called a Morris Minor. There was one model of this car that was more like a van with a wooden frame supporting the bodywork at the back and they came in a similar colour to this car here.
Bit of a trip down memory lane for me this.

Hi Russ,
Gosh, you found another Morris Minor 1000 Traveller!
This one looks a little the worse for wear but it's nice to know that it still goes. The problem with these was that the wooden frame did tend to rot if it wasn't cared for and cleaned and varnished on a regular basis to keep out the wet. In fact, the Morris Minor Traveller was one of the very last "estate cars" or "station wagons" in which the wooden frame actually formed the main structure of the back of the car: more modern cars of this type simply had strips of wood glued onto the metal bodywork and they didn't have any structural purpose at all - just decorative. But in the case of the Morris, the wooden parts definitely formed part of the structure with windows and aluminium panels slotted in.
Incidentally, the wood used for these cars was Ash, a wood which, over the years, has been favoured by carriage and car makers for bodywork construction and is still used by one of the last surviving British motor manufacturers, Morgan, in building their car bodies.
A very fine composition in good light with lovely true colours and excellent details and sharpness.
Brilliant!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Russ,
What a great idea to take this close-up shot. The weathered wood and tail ligths are nicely detailed and I really love the mud-splattered chrome. Very well photographed.
Kind Regards, Ann

Hi Russ,
I see that you like close up detail shots, and I like them too. This old car provides some interesting details indeed, the old lights and wood trim are great. I like your framing that provides that "L" shape in the composition. One thing I could say is that it would have been nice if the "R" in the bottom right corner would have been included completely in the frame and not slightly cut to have a more complete image, but that is just a matter of personal preference.
Regards
Wanda
