Photographer's Note
This sunset scene was shot in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia located in the Shenandoah National Park approximately 130 miles from Washington, D. C.
The Blue Ridge Parkway was constructed in 1935 as part of the New Deal to put Americans back to work after the Great Depression. The Parkway connects the Shenandoah National Park and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park while passing through 469 miles of mountainous terrain.
The Blue Ridge Mountains are home to over 130 species of trees, 1,600 plant species, 74 mammals, and over 159 species of birds. There are 369 miles of hiking trails. The highest elevation of the mountains is 5,700 feet.
This area has breath taking views all year, but especially in autumn with the colorful leaves.

Hello Betty, what a beautiful sunset!
Lovely layers of colours.
I like the way that the silhouetted trees keep our eyes within the frame.
One to be proud of.
Regards Jean.

Hello Betty,
I almost broke into song, reading your notes.
This is a beautifully composed shot, a painter's dream, as the horizontal layers filter back into the frame, culminating in that spectacular sky.
The f/g branches help to create the deep sense of depth.
There is noise in the shot but, for me, it adds to the mood.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Betty,
I love this expansive panorama of the Blue Ridge Mountains... as far as the eye can see. Layer upon layer they rise and fall in the manner of approaching waves. Your note is succinct, but highly informative.
I like also the frame, the white mat and the thin metal frame around it. With some of my favorite photos I also like to provide fames, but providing also the beveled edge to the white mats. Take a look at a shot from an area nearby to the world your photo depicts, Bedford County.
Have a good weekend,
Bulent
