Autumn's Color

Whether it is a stroll through the park, a drive to the mountains or a visit to a neighborhood garden center where my picture was taken, we all enjoy the beauty and vibrant colors in the fall.

In the U. S. pumpkins are a symbol of autumn and the upcoming fall holidays. They are seen in abundance from Jack-o-lanterns lining porches at Halloween to pumpkin pie being served at holiday meals. Pumpkins have been an important part of Thanksgiving dinners, since Thanksgiving first began. Yet, before the pilgrims arrived, they were also a staple food in Native American diets.

Pumpkins are fruit, even though when cooking, they are considered as more of a vegetable than a fruit. They are a member of the gourd family and are orange in color because they contain large amounts of the antioxidants alpha and beta carotene, better known as Vitamin A. The seeds of the pumpkin are often roasted and eaten for snacks.

Pumpkin shopping in the fall is a popular activity. The pumpkins here are waiting to be selected for carving jack-o-lanterns or taken home and placed by the front door of homes for fall decorations.

Great shot to get us ready for the Halloween spirit! Your note is very true in every sense--pumpkins are truly a symbol of autumn, and I can never resist a slice of pumpkin pie :)
The vertical format of this shot works well with this abundance of pumpkins, and the colours are really vibrant.

I adore pumpkins , like food and object of furnishing also:-)) I seed every year and I do their harvest at the end of August. colored and splendid Pov on these round beauties, beautiful the frame of the green of the vegetation. they are interesting also yours written notes. cheers

This is a nicely composed seasonal shot. The mass of pumpkins in the foreground sit in front of a complementary backdrop, colorful and well designed. Augmenting the TE-package, you have provided an informative note.' I see that you shot this in Merrifield, a site that's always been close to my heart. I used to teach weekend classes there.
