Photographer's Note

I first saw this windmill from the Oak Flat Trail and attempted to take some photos of it from there. However, I couldn't find a composition that satisfied me. Then, a bit further along the trail I came across a side trail that I followed back to this clearing where I found that the windmill used to pump water to a stock tank, but that it has been abandoned. I suspect the Forest Service is no longer leasing this portion of the forest for grazing as it has been declared a "wilderness area."
