Photographer's Note
Another gorgeous day in paradise! At least that was how it felt on this chilly day with crystal clear air and dramatic clouds filling the blue sky. When I saw the sky early in the morning I loaded my camera gear in the trunk of my car and headed toward the watershed north of Mount Tamalpais. I didn't have a destination, I simply headed up the road to see where I might find some interesting scenes to shoot. I eventually found myself on Ridgecrest Road that follows the undulating hills rising toward the top of Mount Tam. One section of the road rides at the top of a steep slope that drops down toward the Pacific Ocean. It is a well known stretch of two lane road often used by advertising agencies who film car commercials.
I stopped often to take photos both toward the mountain and toward the ocean. At this vantage point I'm peering down the hill toward the sweeping arc of Stinson Beach with the town of Bolinas in the distance. Bolinas is the community that so prides itself on its isolation that residents repeatedly remove signs on Highway 1 directing passersby toward the town. Today there is no sign.
It was a beautiful day, though when the wind blew up the slope it was very cold. In fact, snow had fallen the night before at the top of Mount Tam. But I'm certainly glad I headed out that day. Hope you enjoy the view!

Hi Curtis,
A fine POV from up there! and good light and colors, wide DOF shows all in focus from close FG to far BG... a good, personal note

Hi Curtis, this is indeed gorgeous. And it seems so real that I almost get that feeling of vertigo that usually does not bother me. The curve in the shoreline with the white waves works wonderful here (it seems to be a 'w'-day, oh I know 'women's day' of course). The curve in the slope is nice as well, it gives an idea of what it is like where you are standing.
I don't feel really comfortable with that rock right in front of me, I'm afraid to stumble over it and roll down all the way.
Yes, you are blessed to live ine a place like that.

Hi, Curtis.
This is a great shot. I love the view over the grass in the foreground, that good tree to the left and the view of the ocean beyond. Wonderful color and detail. Very nicely done!! Regards,
Shelly

Hi Curtis,
Ah, we have had some glorious weather the past few days, haven't we?
Your photo is simple yet stunning -- it is a lovely capture of the dramatic interaction between sea, beach, valley and mountain that is the coastline of northern California. Technically, it is very sharp, with great detail, and with good color. But it is the POV at this particular time and place that makes it excellent.
To live in the Bay Area is to live in paradise. People such as we, my friend, are very lucky, very blessed indeed.
Regards, Jackie

big sur puts this place to shame, anybody could take a great pic of big sur, the coast north of san fran is like a old ford pinto... and big sur is like an aston martin, or a ferrari, or a honda, or a duesenberg....
