Photographer's Note

Amazingly, Yosemite National Park has a 'Ghost Town'.
I was not aware of Bennetville until I was researching and photographying the Yosemite High Country for travel articles. Bennetville lived a short life in the 1880s. The Great Consolidated Silver Company, built the Great Sierra Wagon Road in 1883 crossing the Eastern Sierra Nevadas at Tioaga Canyon. Today this road is a rural highway - route 120 and known as the "Tioga Pass Road".

The two remaining Bennetville structures can be accessed by a short hike from Junction Campground.
