Fun in the Sun, a photo from New York, Northeast

Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

This photograph was taken on Liberty Island.

As you can see, there is no view of the statue but it does reveal the landing stage of the ferry, the large numbers of people using the ferry and how people occupied themselves whilst waiting to return or just cooling down.

It was a very hot day and also a public holiday, with lots of families there and generally more tourists than normal, so we were told.

I honestly didn't feel the crowds a problem. It is such an iconic place that people were all part of the setting. I would have been disappointed had the island been empty, without the atmosphere that they create. Everyone was in good spirits and eager to chat!

It's a day I remember well for all the right reasons.

Summer holiday makres enjoy a beautiful spot on the ferry embarkment area and also up the deck of the vessel we see on the backdrop, Beverley.
The light was favorable, brought out best of the colors.

HI Bev,

You were there close to July 4 which is a major holidau in the USA. You have captured well the persons relaxing at the restaurant. The point of view is showing the details of the ferry boat. Have a nice day.

Hello Bev,
This is a very cosy view of the persons enjoying some refreshments and the people watching the island from the ferry. It's very nicely balanced with the tree to the side and the green branches covering the upper corner, balanced by the green clothes of the two children. There is a fine atmosphere and very attractive colours.

Hello Bev,

I seems a familial picture with children and mothers in foreground.
We can see the boat in background wit all the passengers look to the group with children.
Lovely composition , sharp and clear to look at.

Hello Beverley,
It was such a beautiful day and you show really well here how the people were enjoying the sunshine, both in the foreground and on the ferry. The chairs and tables were well included in the foreground, just as the tree behind the nearest people. Those small white clouds are wonderful too.

Another splendid photograph from your trip to the USA. I love the relaxed and delighted feel of this scene taken well before these crazy times. I like the composition too, with the tree filling the sky and how the t-shirts of the girls resemble to the colours of the tree.

A great island to visit in NY even if it can get crowded. A very relaxed scene, much better in the large view.

Hello Beverley, we can see from the exposure that it was a very bright sunny day; the people trying to sit in the shade, and the shadows of the trees falling on them.
It's a very colourful scene.
The boat in the background full of visitors adds to the feeling of a busy place.
I notice a helicopter flying over too.

Wet again here, we will need webbed feet soon!!

The people enliven the scene visually too, with the splashes of blue, green, yellow and pink contrasting well with the grey tables. The crowded bg ferry boat makes a fine focal point. Tfs!

6 days one way and 7 back - it was a long time spent on the ship. I suppose that even with these all attractions I would feel imprisoned. But all these are theoretical consideration, I couldn't afford such an adventure.

Beverley, Liberty island belongs to the tour of the ferry. The passengers enjoy the shade of the trees, it was a hot day, they relax whereas the boat is docked in the background. It was the summer holidays period and many children took a trip. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
