Photographer's Note
Abandoned vehicles blend with the landscape along old Route 66. Extreme side lighting brings out the textures in the background hills. Shooting against the light creates a back-lit effect on the yellowing vegetation and makes it glow. I saw this scene in the distance and used a long focal length (maybe 450-mm) on the zoom lens to compress the image and bring the layers of colours together. In pp I increased athe saturation for even more vivid colours.

Hi Eva, I like this compo, both the fg and bg are nice to see, really well achieved, lovely colors too (esp. that yellow strip) and I also like the light on the attractive hills back there... TFS, Daniel

Hi Eva,
Beautiful picture. Nice contrasts between the yellow vegetation and the dark mountain, between the light and the shadow on the mountain and between the ugly wrecks and the beautiful nature.
Well done, Paul

Completly horizontal composition with dominant in glowing yellow colour and differential texture of fore-& background, makes this seemingly static composition more dynamic. This shot also seems to be a little bit chaotic - I can't rest my gaze just on the foreground or background, but I have to concentrate on both of them and analise their "structure".
For me it's perfect:D

Hello Eva,
Fine composition from the relics of Rt. 66. Colors are very nice, and the increased contrast is effective. Regards,

Hi Eva,
A well seen image with strong colors and good details. I am a wee bit curious about the larger view here - what are those hills like and what did you all leave out of the image? Good shot and TFS. Gerald

Hi Eva.
What a very bright picture. The cars seem almost corroded by the weather, and hidden by the intense yellow of the bushes (well, you said you increased the saturation, so I think it wasn't really that yellow). The contrast with the bluish mountains at the background really enhances the picture.
Well done.

jürgen

Hello Eva. The photo is impressing and fascinating. The motive speaks for itself. The combination old cars, flowering field and mountains make the photo worth seeing. The photo is outstanding observed and photographically realized. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hello Eva, a striking shot with the beauty of nature contrasted with man's disregard for his surroundings!
The bright yellow of the vegetation makes a nice dividing line. The light shows up the texture of the bg hills.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hi Eva,
Good find. There's good contrast among the cars, the grass and the mountains. The colors are rich, though personally I prefer a tad less saturation. The cars seem to be coming and going. I specially like the turquoise pickup truck.
Best regards,
Lamberto

Bonjour Eva.
Cette route 66 est une légende et cette photo est une réussite.
J'aime la lumière et les couleurs du paysage qui sert de décor à la triste fin de ces véhicules.
Beau travail !
Jacque
