The Newseum

The Newseum, a 250,000 square foot museum of news, is located on Pennsylvania Avenue, across the street from the National Gallery of Art and midway between the U. S. Capitol and the White House. The exterior features a 74 foot high marble engraving of the First Amendment and an immense front wall of glass. The museum抯 seven levels include 14 news galleries and 15 theaters offering a behind the scenes environment allowing visitors to experience how and why news is made. Interactive exhibits showcase five centuries of news history. The news museum designed by Polshek Partnership Architects opened on April 11, 2008.

Hello Betty,

A succinct but informative note informs this architectural shot, evocative of an architectural drawing. The zigzagging staircase immediately engages the eye. I see that you were there just three days after the Newseum opened. By the way, I do like the name they've chosen for their museum.

Very striking lines to this bit of modern architecture with its glass catching a vivid reflection of the blue sky that contrast so nicely with the silver blue colors.
