Angry Sky, a photo from New South Wales, East

Photographer's Note

I took delivery of a new camera today and as soon as the battery was charged, I couldn't wait to use it. But just as I was about to leave work, the clouds brewed and I thought I was going to have to stay indoors and read the manual ;) On a hill side near home, the storm clouds looked very angry, and I snapped this shot just before the storm hit.

I like how you composed the silhouettes of the trees close to the bottom. The massive clouds above the silhouette landscape gives a perfect reference for the viewer to put this scenery in perspective. Well done!

Now that one turned out really moody, Chris. A splendid atmosphere, and a good composition with the silhouettes of the trees and bushed against the furious sky (I think "angry" is too weak). It almost has the feel of a painting to it. Good shot.
And, of course, congrats on the new D70 ;-)

Ooh Chris this was a heavy storm! Great capture. I like all the dark tones in combination with the green of the sky. I like it!

Powerful and moody picture, I like the cyan colour in this one, makes a nice effect. Great composition and nice silhouettes of the trees.
Looks like something out of a movie, I can almost see horses and knights coming out of the woods.
Nicely seen and captured!

Terrific atmosphere in this shot. I love the contrast between the black clouds and the clear patch of sky. The line of trees is perfect - helps create great balance.

A very dramatic shot. The colours are amazing, although seem quite unnatural to me. I like the silhouetted trees. A great start for a new camera.

A bit green / cyan. Did you get hail, or has the colour been adjusted in APS? I like the interplay of light & dark on the left. Perhaps you could have cropped the right 1/3 to focus on this part of the image ?
