Photographer's Note

Not every winter day in Melbourne is like this, but nice sunny days do occur moderately often. You can tell this is a mid-winter view because of the bright yellow flowers of the Cootamundra wattle (a type of Acacia) which is a common street tree in eastern Australia, and flowers in winter. The flowers are also fragrant - when you walk under one of these trees it smells like you have just walked into a perfume shop.

The pink flowers on the left are Hakea bucculenta, a shrub from Western Australia that is planted as a street tree in my suburb. It also flowers all through winter.
