Photographer's Note
The Werribee Poo Farm, or more correctly the Western Treatment Plant, consists of a series of open ponds in which about half the sewage from Melbourne is treated before being released into Port Phillip Bay. Treatment consists of allowing bacteria to break down down organic matter. Some of the ponds are covered and methane is collected and used for energy generation.
A byproduct of this is a wet land which attracts a wide variety of bird life. It was declared a RAMSAR site in 1983.
This bird is a black shouldered kite. Found in the company of skippy007, daddo and one non-TE photogtapher.
