Photographer's Note
Salar the Uyuni, in Southwestern Bolivia, in the largest salt lake in the world. A fantastic white flat area at almost 4000 meters, surrounded by volcanos in the andean altopiano.
In the middle of the salar is an "isle", a small piece of land covered with huge cacti.
After the rainy season, the salar stays covered with 10 cms of water for some time, becoming even more bright, and reflecting the mountain and the blue sky.

Hello Stefano,
You were lucky to have remaining water on the salar, there is a mirror effect I can not experiment when I was there.
I like the idea of the composition using the vertical lines of the cactus. Nice view also on the Tunupa. It was a very long day of walk to reach its summit.

Ciao Stefano,
In questa foto la certezza è rappresentata dalle piante grasse in primo piano, che animano questo paesaggio quasi irreale, evanescente, che sembra sospeso tra la terra e il cielo.
Fantastica.

Hello Stefano,
A nice effect of the cacti against the strangely light blue background. Also an attractive combination of very strong vertical and horizontal lines.

Hello Stefano,
great shot of the salar area at almost 4000m.
I travelled to Bolivia almost 20 years ago, but I didn't visit this area. My fault!
The different blue shades are really worth seeing. The reflections are stunning and I like those plants in the foreground. Perfectly seen and done.
Best wishes,
Helmut

Great, simple composition. Juxtaposing the cactuses against that shiny immensity was a very clever idea.

Superb, the inclusion of the cacti in the foreground is a genial idea, a complement to the mountain and its reflexion in the lake.Everything seems so calm.

Luc.

What an exotically beautiful place, Stefano! It's like something from a dream, where land and sky become one. The fuzzy cactus plants contrast nicely with the clean lines of the landscape beyond. Regards, Ken.

Hi Stefano,
this surely is one of the most unusual places in the world. The lake looks gorgeous, the reflection is brilliant, as the colous of the sky gets reflected in the water.
cheers

hi stefano
interesting POV with those cacti; and, of course, perfect reflection leaving the volcano hanging between the sky and the water.
unfortunately, we could not get to Uyuni this time. the chilean rental company would not let my car be driven into bolivia for over the last few years they had had several incidents when rented cars got stolen on the bolivian side... oh well, another time.
your note though makes an important point... when is the end of the rain season there? when does it start? i suspect we would not want to visit in the middle of the dry season. :))
regards,
kristaps

Hi Stefano,
I think that this place must be fascinating to see. I love the way you have framed the salt lake with the cacti in the foreground adding some extra interest and creating a sense of depth. The water is so calm and I like the refelction of the volcanoe in it.

hi Stefano,
I see what we missed, looks wonderful, but we have already decided that Bolivia is going to be one of our next destinations, so I haven't lost all hope of seeing this with my own eyes.
love the pure blue colour, and how leaving a lot of room for the sky nicely illustrates your note about the big open space of the salar. compositionally, I'm not sure I like the cacti in the foreground, their silhouettes are a bit too abstrast. but that's a matter of personal preference :) great shot.
best,
Kristine

This is one incredible photo!!! I returned from Salar de Uyuni last month - I didn't have the luck with water and reflections like you did - but nevertheless I was taking pictures like crazy. Unfortunately, not with such a wonderful result as yours... Anyway, it is such a special place and your photo conveys its greatness and beauty.
