Independence Day is a national holiday in Brazil celebrated on the 7th of September each year. The date commemorates the Declaration of Independence of Brazil from the Portuguese Empire on September 7, 1822. The photo highlights the Dragons of Independence at the changing of the guard at the Pal醕io do Planalto.

Hello Ricardo,
The bright light, strong colours and the old uniforms make me think of a Hollywood epic movie from the 1960's. It's a very eye catching photo thanks to the red carpet, and the lines of soldiers holding flags create a super depth.

Hi Ricardo

I am glad that the main national flag of Brazil is green and yellow, as I would confuse these red and white flags with Indonesia or Poland. A terrific catch of the ceremonial Independence Day celebration. Tfs!

Hi Ricardo,

You had a perfect position to get this photo looking straight down the red carpet. There is a great sense of depth with the soldiers all lined up with their flags fluttering in the breeze. The uniforms are very old fashioned, and the helmets seem to have horse tails.

pois �, quando cheguei pela terceira vez ao pal醕io, dias atr醩, a troca da guarda j� havia acontecido. por閙, eles n鉶 estavam usando o uniforme tradicional. muito boa a foto da cerim鬾ia.
agora tudo estava cercado de grades e tudo fechado para visitas, espelhando a guerra entre os 3 poderes.
