Sandcastle Architecture
This is one of several impressive sand castles I saw while walking on the beach at Copacabana in Rio.
Copacabana is one of the world’s most famous beaches. The name Copacabana, or “Copa Caguana” (Luminous Place) in Quechua, an ancient language still spoken in Peru, was given by the Incas to this beautiful site.
Copacabana Beach is a magnificent 5 mile stretch. The beachfront kiosk bars lining Avenue Atlântica, the street that runs the length of the beach, are popular for snacks, food, and drinks. The entire length of the beach is divided into stations (postos). Postos 5 and 6 attract older residents and youngsters. The fresh catch of the day can be bought at Postos 7 at the southern end of the beach known as the posto de pescadores (fisherman’s post).
On New Year’s Eve, millions of local residents and visitors take to the beach to celebrate and honor Yemanjá, Goddess of the Sea.
See a picture of Atlântica Avenue, the street that runs along the beach in my workshop.

Hello Betty,
Wow! That is an impressive sand castle! I also like the bright colors that surround it. What is that green thing on the left? Your WS photo is also very nice. I like the wide view with lots of details.

dear Betty,
wow,
a very well crafted sand castle, it is really amazing,
if there were not the bench, I would wonder it is actual or not,
maybe it is useful for the fantastic movie,
anyway, cheerful summer ambience of the beach is wonderful,
back blue sky and fore red seat are making the gray sand so vivid,
thank you for your excellent shot,
Akihisa

Bonjour Betty,
quelle précision dans la mise au point de cette photo, une profondeur de champ efficace pour rendre nette l'ensemble de la scène.
La banquette donne astucieusement les dimensions de ce magnifique chateau de sable
Original.
Compliments.

Hi Betty
Simply beautiful, this is not anymore kid's play, that's one for adults, it looks so real and the workmanship is extraordinary. No idea, how they do it, that the sand holds together, even when there are so many details. Fine composition and settings, well done. Thanks for your critique of my lonely beach, yes it is very nice to visit a place not touched from mass tourism.
Best regards

Hello Betty
this sand city is indeed incredible! the positioning of the bench in Fg and the persons in distance succeeds in giving a proportion of the largeness of this wonder, and it makes us to understand that it is all true: -) the light is much good one and designs well the details. cmpliments

Hello Betty,
It is difficult to believe that the building material is only sand, and just an ephemeral creation. Your note is outstanding, and the ws puts it into geographic solution.
Warm regards,
