Rare Bird, a photo from Minas Gerais, Southeast

Photographer's Note

This is a special post for friends Ike and Pierre, who love to photograph these "birds".

Here a veteran Boeing 737-2A1(F), with 2 x Pratt & Whitney JT8D-9 engines, prefix PP-SMB, manufactured on 05/14/1969 and delivered to VASP together with PP-SMA, PP-SMC and PP-SMD, the first 4 737 were delivered in Latin America, on 07/18/1969. He flew with passengers until 09/1991 and was converted to a freighter and engines replaced by the JT8D-17A, other implements, such as GPWS, GPS and TCAS. His last flight was 04/02/2005 to Manaus, where he was abandoned. In 2014, it was auctioned off at Vasp's bankruptcy and transported in trucks to Nanuque, MG, where it is preserved. A commercial enterprise will be built there.

Hello Lucas,
I may not share the same enthusiasm for airplanes or parked cars as the two gentlemen mentioned in the note, but I appreciate well taken photos of any kind. This is sharp and bright, it's taken from a good angle, and the plane looks quite majestic on the green ground below the blue sky with light clouds.

A great photo of this aircraft, you chose a good angle and the sunlight was also perfect here. The blue letters stand out well. You had some nice clouds in the sky as well.

Hello Lucas,

You are obviously a huge aeroplane fan, like the two members that you mention.
It is interesting to learn about this plane抯 history and to find that it is being preserved, at the end of its working life. It isn抰 really surprising, as most forms of transport have enthusiasts who want to turn them into museum pieces.

It抯 a fine, sharp photograph, where the aeroplane has a certain amount of pride in its retirement.

My knowledge of airplanes is fairly limited but the number 737 is so well known! And I love them because they take me to all those exciting far away places where I want to go.
So nice to see this veteran. Great angle for a photo and the clouds in the sky seem to complement the subject.

Thought for a long time what to write about this plane. An old machine now looks as retired, stands on chocks for a high display over the green lawn. An excellent whole view, bright light brought out colors in fine contrast and good choice to include the flag on right side.
