When Brasília was planned there was an idea to bring the old National Library from Rio de Janeiro, created by the Portuguese king in 1808, to the new capital city, but at the end the cultural resistance of Rio let the library in its old place and it was decided to build a new one in Brasília and it was inaugurated only in 2006, but with not so much cultural power.
The building was created by Oscar Niemeyer, as the most famous buildings of the city, as you will see in the next images.
Oscar was a very old man when he created this, almost 100 years old, we can find some differences of the art he created during his golden years, but it is a beautiful modern building anyway.
At right you can see a building located in the bank sector, behind me was the weird old bus station and the Big Axis. You can see two other buildings created by Oscar at left, but I will show them you after.
This building was inaugurated during a leftist government and the name of the library was gave to a famous leftist Brazilian politician (Leonel Brizola), a very polemic man who ruled two big Brazilian states.

Quando planejaram Brasília havia a ideia de trazer a velha Biblioteca Nacional do Rio para lá, mas a resistência cultural dos cariocas não permitiu tal façanha e a Biblioteca Nacional de Brasília só seria inaugurada em 2006, sem muito poder cultural.
O prédio é obra de Oscar Niemeyer, como a maior parte dos prédios famosos da cidade. Ele já tinha quase cem anos de idade quando projetou esse prédio e notamos diferenças de estilo comparando-o com aqueles que ele fez na sua era de ouro, mesmo assim o prédio da biblioteca é muito bonito.
Vemos à direita um prédio do setor bancário, atrás de mim estava o Eixo Monumental e a estranha e velha rodoviária e ao fundo temos dois prédios de Oscar que vou mostrar mais adiante.
Quando o prédio foi inaugurado o Brasil vivia sob um governo de esquerda e por conta disso deram o nome de Leonel Brizola à nova biblioteca.
