Photographer's Note
It was the end of the day, the sky was cloudy and the photos not so nice, I preferred to use B&W.
Planalto Palace (Highland Palace) is one of the first buildings built in the town, from 1958 to 1960.
The building is located in the huge Square of Three Powers, it is facing the Supreme Tribunal of Justice, having at side the National Congress.
It is the office of the president of Brazil, in the 1980's, the country suffered a terrible economic crisis and a man took a bus and invaded the lower part of the palace, after that it was created a moat around the building to prevent this.
The columns of the palace are very famous, Niemeyer wanted them light as feathers touching the ground, anyway they were inspired in the rafts of Ceará State. That rounded structure in front is used only when the elected president is speaking to the people at first time. You can see a big ramp of marble, it is used when the president invites a special person to visit him (her), this created a expression: to climb the ramp of Planalto, meaning you got a special attention. You can see the guards at side. I will show you them some weeks ahead.
You can see small fences, this isn't usual, they were used in that days because the political war between Bolsonaro and the other powers of republic.
In the link you can see a raft of Ceará and see as it resembles the structure of these columns.

................

Hi Jorge,
The diagonal line of the street is giving dynamism to the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the Planalto Palace. The black and white is giving a good contrast to the picture. Have a nice day.

Hi Jorge, the palace of power signed by Niemeyer but also of several episodes of protest despite its young history, as I can read in his notes. Excellent choice of black and white, after all with this view with this light and under the clouds it did not offer unmissable color cues. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Oi Jorge
Belo trabalho !

Hi Jorge,
I wanted to write that I would prefer the color version and then I realized that I have also posted two black and white photos recently.
Very original design of the structure.
Fantastic reportage from Brasilia. It seems strange that there are no people around but I see it was also in the covid times.
Very well done,
M
