�Zipaquir� - Parque Principal�

The Parque Principal is the most beautiful square in Zipaquir�. It抯 the same square where the cathedral is located.
In Colombia often the word 憄arque� is used for a square, usually for the most important plaza in town.
Usually also flowers, plants and trees are found on such a parque.
In Zipaquir� the Parque Principal has a few palm trees but for me it were the surrounding buildings that made its beauty.

I also liked the lively atmosphere with mostly locals.
Most visitors of Zipaquir� just passed this square and rushed to the salt cathedral.

Hello Paul,
Maybe it has something to do with the angle of the photo and how the light is falling, but that tiled roof strikes me as remarkably beautiful. The WS seems to confirm this observation. What we see here of this square seems generally very attractive, as your note also indicates.It's always a good idea to linger a while at the ordinary places rather than rushing straight to the tourist hot spot. The "nothing special" places are often the most special. We can see that in these photos.

Hello Paul,

Nice repetition of the seated people on the concrete benches which act as a lead in line towards the yellow domed cathedral. Good sharpness and warm cold color contrasts. Tfs!

Hallo Paul,
Een mooie foto van dit pleintje. De donkere wolken vormen een mooie achtergrond voor het gele koepeltje en de oranje daken en ze gaan ook mooi samen met het zonverlichte pleintje. De mensen op de bankjes geven een fijne, relaxte sfeer aan de compositie.

Hello Paul,
Well placed the dome on left in good contrast to the red roof-tiles edifice on right. A superb vividness to the scene in the plaza, the little girl in red and yellow seems not to draw much attention from the elderly people near her. Perfect light at the moment taken, while the sky were cloudy.

Hello Paul, The atmosphere of this parque reminds me Salta in Argentina. The people come to the main square just to relax, chat with the others. and how strange - no one has cell phone. Are still such places on the globe? haha. Nice colours - yellow tower, red and blue balcony. Beautiful roof. Charming picture.

Hello Paul,

You made a good choice with regards the scene for your main post, this shot has lovely composition, with the use of the right angled corner and an extended view off the main square.
The light is particularly good creating subtle sunlight/shade contrasts.
There is a very relaxed atmosphere with all the seated figures edging the square.

I wonder ... why is it only men have time to sit and look and contemplate!

De kleurrijkste foto is de man die ballonnen en souvenirs verkoopt.
Maar uw hoofd foto zorgt voor een mooi algemeen zicht over het plein en de lokale bevolking.
U koos een perfecte hoek met de kerk en de vele mensen rustend op de banken van het plein.

This is another lively and colorful photo from Colombia. I especially like the red and blue paint on the balcony. These smaller towns are very charming, and with all the different colors they seem to beg the photographer to stop and take some shots. :-)

A lively charming old town square bathing in warm light, capped by contrasting grey sky and superb vividness of colour, obviously the building and the cathedral grab the eye. Hi Paul,
what a charming place. I like very much the unique architecture with these balconies and most of all the yellow tower! The sky so dark makes a wonderful backdrop for the well lit scene.
It is however people in this photo what adds even more character and uniqueness to the picture. I wouldn't be able to explain it but I can tell that this is not a scene which could found in Europe. It does feel very exotic.
Your reportage is truly unique -you show us really so little known country with plenty of little towns I have ever heard before.
Excellent work, I bet emka already plans her trip there :)

yeah, there are some vivid colors here which are well worth the time to view, and worth photographing. if we look closely, even the rooftop on the right is unique. the rounded rooftop on the left seems oddly out of place don't you think? haha...but thats also part of its charm i suppose.
the clouds give off a cool looking blue/grey aswell, lots to like here. cheers
