Photographer's Note
Gjende is one of the largest mountain lakes in western Jotunheimen. For 18 kilometers the lake stretches, from Gjendesheim and route 51 in the east, into the heart of the mountains all the way to Gjendebu at the western end. Steep mountain cliffs on both side plunge down into the blue, green water and from the boat you can look up and see people wandering over the well known Besseggen ridge between Gjendesheim and Memurubu.
