Photographer's Note
The tuk tuk, also called an auto rickshaw, is a very common mode of transport in Asia. These three wheelers are generally used as taxis. We saw many in Rajasthan as they darted around the busy streets. It was not uncommon to see many people crammed in, sitting on the floor as well as the seats. They were often in bad condition with many scrapes and dents on them. This photo was taken in Bikaner and shows a broken down Tuk Tuk being examined by two men. Bikaner is about 200 miles north-west of Jaipur and is less visited by tourists than many other big cities in Rajasthan which makes it especially interesting. It is in the middle of the Thar desert and it is advised to visit during the winter months because of the unrelenting heat during summer. Note that the wall of the building is very similar in colour to the 'pink' walls of Jaipur (the Pink City).

Hi Ann!
That's really the colour of Bikaner! What a nice scene you got here! Well captured, with great details! These tuk tuks are really beautiful! I like the details such as the bike and the little tree and especially the blue box and the old red seat they have used to hold the tuk tuk :)! Really beautiful colours and good sharpness!

Hello Ann
What a fine evocative shot ! As a little boy who never grew up this idea of 'roll it over and see what we can do' really appeals ! Lovely composition and colour; but the question remains, did they mend it ?

Ann,
Fantastic street shot . Once it happened to us. We were in a rickshaw. 4 of us and overloaded. It tried to go up the street, overturned and broke on of the wheels. It was very embarassing as we were college students.Well composed shot.

Hello Ann - Nice shot! Super daily life image with lots of interesting detail besides the main focus. Isn't Asia incredible? ... "no job too big, no job too small" WRT the pink wall; I love the painted decoration on it, makes a great backdrop to the scene. Have a good weekend Rosemary

Hi Ann.
Great moment you've captured and conveyed the essence of the lifestyle in India. Good POV framing the scene with the tree on one side and the other wagon on the right.
The lighting is good as well as color.
Enjoy the weekend.
Best regards.

Hello Ann,
Very unusual scene and informative note. I like all the different elements in the image without it being too "busy". The pink background softens it well in the harsh environment.

Hello Ann,
A very fine photograph this and one which, to me, typifies India as I imagine it. Having worked with many delightful people from India, India is a place I must visit before I die and, like yourself, being about to retire from the medical life, I plan to do some travelling in the not too distant future.
Fabulous colours here and wonderful sharpness. I can appreciate the dryness and the heat, even in winter. The composition is excellent and you have added a very interesting and informative note.
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Ann. What is original for an image. Who has to repair in some third world countries, must be able to improvise and be innovative. I like the photo. It tells a small but beautiful story. Well observed and presented. Rgds, Wolfgang.

Hi Ann
This is nice colorful capture and I see what u are getting at, showing the characters and the like and the overall feel of daily life they are in. I think that the building is a strong subject on its own with dominating pink color, while my eye is drawn to the brilliant blue stool provides an effective focal point to complement the total impression. Great colours and light is well managed, good detail sharpness and textures. Good daily life shot. Well done
Congrats. Best rgds

Hi Ann,
Great work, you have captured a good moment. I like how you show the improvised way the tuk tuk leans upon the rather flimsy support. The colours are rich and attractive and the hindi writing is another great addition. I really respect the cultures of India.

Hi Ann! This reminds me of when I was working in Sri Lanka. They call them 'tree-wheelers' there, and this kind of sight is all too familiar! I really like the combination of colours you've captured here, and the two tuk-tuks and the bike are nicely positioned in front of their frames! TFS, Colin.

I HAD THIS EXPERIENCE IN MUMBAI IN SO CALLED THERE "MOSQUITOES" AND IT'S REAL: THEY RUN LIKE THEM !
IT'S A VERY UNUSUAL DAILY PHOTO FOR WESTERN PEOPLE REPAIRING THE "CAR" IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IT REMINDS ME GREECE OF 50's BUT I HAVE A STRANGE FEELING THAT THESE DAYS WILL COME BACK QUICK !!
EXCELLENT COLORED SHOT
NICE WORK MY DEAR

Hi Ann,
Yes, I know this type of transportation well, since I grew up in Loas and Thailand. What I miss are the rickshaw that is paddle by legs, not as fast by less noise and no pollution and less likely to have an accident.
This a nicely daily life image showing the transportation, in trouble and how he attempt to fix it. Good quality and I live the pinkish wall to really give strong contrast and vibrant colors.
Thanks
Way
