Photographer's Note

The title of this picture is the same as the title of a novel written by the famous Russian author, a winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, Mikhail Aleksandrovich Sholokhov. He lived and worked in stanitsa Veshenskaya (northern part of Rostov Oblast) on the Don, not very far from the place in the picture, which is in the southern part of neighboring Voronezh Oblast, near Podkolodnovka Village in Bogucharskiy District.

In the picture, besides the Don River, white Galievka抯 Hill and Boguchar抯 Tower are seen.

Hello Sergiy,
This is a very pleasant photo with a fine atmosphere of late summer. The three young persons who have come to the river provide life and colours. I am surprised to see that this great river really looks so quiet. Everything here seems very idyllic, even in spite of the tall mast and the buildings on the hill. The colours are superb.

Vraiment un bel endroit et la vue est splendide. La perspective est excellente avec la rivi鑢e qui se perd au loin. Bel atmosph鑢e de tranquillit� et les personnages ajoutent de la vie � la photo. Les tons de vert sont superbes et beau contraste avec le bleu.
