Photographer's Note

The Danube Delta is low and swampy and it looks like the protective dyke that once prevented water flooding into the surrounding yard is broken. A cow is taking advantage of the grass just below the water surface. I also saw frogs and turtles. The 'eyes' in the roof attic are a common feature throughout eastern continental Europe and the thatched roof is made from dried and stitched reeds, harvested from the alluvial delta of the Danube.
