Morning Coffee Near The Bridge

The next morning, Murat picked us up at out hotel again for a day of exploring Pittsburgh. The weather forecast hadn抰 been very promising, all that had been forecast was nothing but rain, but in the morning it was just cloudy (in the end it didn抰 rain at all that day and we even got some sun later on as well, our umbrellas surely helped to fend off the rain.

Pittsburgh is located at the confluence of the Allegheny (seen here), Monongahela, and Ohio rivers, which makes it necessary to have a lot of bridge. In fact, Pittsburgh抯 nickname is the 揅ity of Bridges as the city has got a total number of 446. This is one of them, Fort Duquesne Bridge, a bowstring arch bridge, spanning the Allegheny River and carrying Interstate 279. It was constructed from 1958 to 1963, but because it first opened in 1969, due to the fact that the northern approach ramps couldn抰 be completed earlier, it became known as the 揃ridge to Nowhere.
