Photographer's Note
This is not the most beautiful photo I took and I never wanted to take it. The quality is not the best, it was made with the phone, but it doesn't matter. This is my bar. It is closed from today. And it is still unknown for how many weeks. This is one of the measures taken by the government to stem the coronavirus epidemic. The situation is truly dramatic in Italy, you cannot leave the house except for valid reasons, and you must have a self-certification with you. I thought of doing this post to make TE friends understand what could happen to them in a few days, although I sincerely hope that it does not happen, but it must be done soon, the virus does not stop.

Ciao Luciano,
This may not be an artistic photo, but it is an important documentary of the current situation. The empty chairs and tables convey the feeling of life coming to a standstill. It is difficult to wrap my mind around the sudden turn of events, with lives being impacted all over the world. I hope it isn't really "the end", but just a pause. The green smiley is for you sharing this photo, even though the situation deserves a more serious and worried face. Take good care...

Ciao Luciano,
A sad state of affairs for sure. On a positive note the beer & wine will taste that much better when all the drama is finally over and business returns to normal. Let's all hope that is much sooner, than later, and a vaccine is quickly developed.

Bonjour, cher ami Luciano,

Hello Luciano,
I would really have preferred to see your bar full of people, so this is a sad photo. It won't console you that many European countries are busy catching up with Italy. Sweden has forbidden large crowds, Denmark is closing all schools and universities and is shutting down the parliament, new measures are taken every day all over the continent. I posted a "news" photo today, but no photo could capture the events of the day better than this.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Luciano, a thought provoking shot.
There is no answer as yet. Let us hope that things will improve very soon.

Salut Luciano,

Hello Luciano,
Your photograph reveals the dramatic effects that the virus has had on countries, not just isolated populations! It seems able to spread rapidly.
The only good thing is, we can still communicate and share information via our computers, without risk of infection.
I hope you are all safe.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

In Poland, schools, kindergartens, cinemas and aquaparks are closed, more and more people are sick, but not everyone understands that this is a pandemic, I wish all my friends on TE a lot of health.

a sad image. sorry for the damages you and italy are suffering more at this moment. I am not sure if closing events, shops, and churches and bars will stop the virus. this is a gripe and it will reach us anyway some day.
I hope you will take your normal daily life soon. I read few minutes before our president and a minister are with the virus... I am with gripe, at the final part, but it wasn't corona. I am afraid my parents because they are old and fragile.
take care

Hello Luciano,
It might not be a beautiful photo, but it is an excellent one for journalistic and in the future historic reasons, as it shows the current state many parts of the world and particularly Italy are in at the moment. The empty bar symbolises the battle against the virus very clearly. Good light management and composition also.

Luciano, the covid 19 is going to paralyze the economy in many countries. School are closed, sport competitions are cancelled, some countries ban some nationalities from entering in their territories, some events like the Olympic games or the Euro 2020 are threatened by the virus. The bar interior is sad, the chairs are empty because the customers aren t allowed to go outside to have a beer. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo to remember the situation during this period, regards.

Hello Luciano,
I agree with you! It is really tragicall! Altough my earnings is not threatened that directly, I know that all of us will pay the price of these (beyond doubt necessary) measures. My country is about to face a very similar situation...
I wish all the best for you for the following!

Hi Luciano
A perfect photo for the purpose. They've certainly taking drastic action in Italy. Stay safe.
In Australia we've now been told to only travel overseas if absolutely essential so I'm in the process of cancelling all my reservations for a trip to Germany, Georgia and Greece. I might have to head away from people and out to the Australian outback again.
cheers

Not "The end", Luciano, we all hope it's only a temporary halt. A great pity, situation in Italia is horrible.
I see you have a nice establishment, my compliments for the simple, yet elegant furnitures and tablecloths in beautiful grey and pink colors.
Let's hope for better times., arrivederci,

Ciao Luciano:
So sorry to hear about the closure of your bar. I know that things are very difficult right now in Italy. I have several friends who are there who are struggling, as is everyone else. I think in the future, this photo will be a testament to what life was like at this critical time, and it is very well-presented. Best wishes from the USA, and hope to see many more TE photos from you in the near future.

Hi Luciano,
Empty tables describe well the situation, especially as we see this was in bright daylight. I like those tablecloths. Local customers return as soon as things clear. It will take longer of tourist business to recover.

Ciao Luciano,
very appropriate upload, such a hot subject! Northern Italy certainly is the most affected so far.
The situation in the UK is quite particular, The government decided to let it go. Nothing is closed except doctors. It is nearly impossible to get to a doctor and nobody checks if people are infected. So the numbers are not known. Healthcare in the UK is quite particular. They always went for "natural", meaning if a child dies in childbirth it is "natural" no need to help it. And so they decided to not do anything and see what will happen. I live in a relatively remote area, I don't use public transportation, I don't go to a town.
The only challenging places are work, shop, school...
I am curious whether UK will follow Italian lead in this matter.
Great contribution here,
M

Ciao Luciano,
Sad view of your empty bar. The situation is really dramatic and unpredictable. I planned to go to the Philippines but quite suddenly I decided to return home not to be stuck somewhere away from home. Now I am waiting for the plane from Dubai to Frankfurt. I do not know how I will cross the border and go home. Ans for sure at home will be 14 days of quarantine.

Ciao Luciano. An image of silence and pathos. I saw a moving photo of Italians singing to each other from their balconies in order to boost their morale. One wonders how many will die across the world and how many more will go through terrible pain as their lungs are compromised. Be safe. Klaudio.

After reading your latest post I had to look at your previous one. So this is what is happening. I've been in the Philippines for the last two weeks, so while I'm fairly well informed on what is happening in Asia, I'm a bit out of touch with the situation in Europe.. Only yesterday I heard about the total lockdown of Poland.
I hope you are able to resume your normal life soon.

Hello Luciano
It is really sad news we get from Italy, and many other counties too, these days. The photo conveys well the hopeless feeling in the country and in the world right now. Here schools, kindergartens, restaurants and bars has been closed down. I really hope you can open your bar again soon, and people will get back in the streets and enjoy life and enjoy spring. Fine post:)

Hello friend Luciano.
I understand how sad you will have taken this photo, waiting for a normalization, we do not know when it will be.
I have already been confined at home for a week and we still have 3 until April 11, this is terrible for health and the economy.
You are in one of the areas of Italy with the highest number of infections, also here in Madrid because Alcala falls within the Madrid area, we have the worst focus in Spain, overflowing hospitals, hotels that have offered their facilities now with patients, Ifema the great construction for fairs, installing 3000 beds, 90 of ICU, in short we are distressed, taking all possible measures, but contagions are so easy, God would say .....
Have a good day.
Warm regards and take care.
Luis.

Hello Luciano,
A sad sight of this place that should be full of life.
Besides the financial loss to you, being in a lockdown is not a life. But I fully understand the need.
Already when I was still traveling, I heard of the major problems Italy was facing. It all seems so unjust.
Hopefully we'll all get through this and I sincerely wish you will be able to visit wonderful places in the world again.
Best regards, Paul
